Hello all I wanted to share that I bid on a 3 carat tsavorite ring on eBay, and won! I got it today and oh my goodness (pics don't do the color justice). The stone does have some inclusions but they don't bother me; overall nice clarity, nothing surface reaching and - honestly it made it affordable. I know I will need to get it appraised and checked out but for now some pics. Anyways, a much nicer ring than I was intending on getting, but I may finally have the beautiful green stone ring of my dreams. IMG_20200703_132441003.jpg

Thanks! Green is my favorite color :) and having an amazing emerald or tsavorite ring was on my bucket list. I had an emerald ring but sold it, which I regretted. Now I need to be good for awhile.

Congrats! Can you give us indoor pics too? Can't help it that my spidey senses are whispering it could be a chrome tourmaline.

Voce I hear you! I have to say my camera does not take good pics of green stones. It makes them grayish. I own both (much smaller) tsavorites, green toumalines as well as chrome diopside. Comparing them it looks the closest to my tsavorites in appearance (hard to describe, but the glittery green sparkles are more numerous and fine). But I will def get it appraised for my own piece of mind. Here is indoor shot. It is dark but you can always see the green (doesn't black out).

After looking up prices for 3 carat tsavorites is now making me doubt what the actual stone is. It's a beautiful ring regardless (and if it turns out to be chrome tourmaline I won't kick it out of bed!) I do need to verify before I get too excited. The seller stated that a gemologist confirmed it was a tsavorite garnet with no cracks or fractures, natural inclusions only. However it did not come with a grading report. So I do want to get a 2nd opinion.

Well to give you an update I dropped it off at the appraisers and the gemologist was able to examine it and give me some information. It IS a tsavorite garnet and said, with "absolutely gorgeous color" (it was really showing off in those jeweler's lights). Downside: it does have some natural inclusions, two of which are near two of the prongs. The prongs are worn and "tiny", especially one of the prongs. Because of the location of the inclusions either re-tipping or unmounting and redoing prongs, resetting would be "tricky" due to the inclusions and because the stone is "pillowy" (has a belly) and is "tight" in the setting. They would need to set it just right when putting it back. However she did assure me the stone is durable, it can be worn every day, as long as I'm not taking on and off latex gloves, sleeping with it etc. I'll get the actual appraisals in a couple weeks, but I am happy it is as stated.
