Hello,

I have seen many up close pictures of your diamonds. My question is,are you all using a very high dollar camera or...maybe I just don''t know how to use my camera fully. I have a Canon Powershot SD1100IS. I know how to zoom in to 12X. When I am viewing my pictures on the camera,It shows a small box in the right hand corner of the picture but its zoomed in to what I want the whole picture to be.I also figure out how to zoom the whole picture in closer but when I upload its not zoomed in anymore.I can zoom in on my computer but I cant save it that way.
Any advice?

I have that camera, make sure you click on the flower icon and turn off the flash (looks like a lighting bolt). Does your software have the crop function? Look for crop and you can zoom in. I will post a pics so you can see it can be done; I did it during the afternoon to play with it but it works.

for my ring pix, my FI uses DSLR with macro lens....

This is with macro. If you go outside you will get better shots. Their will be a green box as you are pushing down on the button; that shows you what it is focusing on.

Oh also, it's generally not good to use zoom AND macro at the same time. Get as close (physically, not with zoome) as you can without the ring blurring, then crop once it's on your computer (you can do this in whatever basic photo editing program your computer comes with, MS Paint, for example). You'll have to resize the image to 100kb or less, and give it a unique name (like myring0946039467823457.jpg) in order to upload it to PS.

Here's a useful thread from the FAQ section, which is always a great place to start!

How to upload/reduce pictures for posting

Keep practicing! I take like 100 pics and then sort through the best! Watch where the green box focuses; you want it on the stone, it can be a bit trick but looks good! eta: arrows are very hard to get but you will get them looks like you are getting close. hehe

eeta: did you post it in SMTR?

If you can adjust the focal length (usually an AV setting) it will focus better for you. The diamond is GORGEOUS!

Beautiful! Is that your grandmother''s stone?

i was trying to get a good shot but the wasps outside were scaring me
