hello all!
thanks so much for the wise words,I feel like I've learned so much from here, but the more I learn, the more I realise I don't know!

I'm in the market for and ER (shock horror!)
My GF likes cushion cut (more specifically, not round brilliants).
She's a bit retro ( I call her a high class hippie)
on another thread, someone suggested this setting to somebody else, and it jumped at me as her to a "T"

http://www.greenwichjewelers.com/shop/designers/beverley-k/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-with-halo-and-engraving

The above would however have to be with a more square cushion halo.

Anyway, with that in mind, I need a centre stone. I like hate the crushed ice look, but as to H& A or a more modern facet structure compared to the August Vintage Coushion style I'm not 100% sure, I dare say the more antique facet structure would be more appealing.

Im after suggestions for the diamond, with the following specs:

1.0 ct, accept down to s2 as long as its eye clean, G colour. And a price of $6000.00 (possibly strecth a touch for the right stone)

On colour, being a white gold/platinum setting, is there a point at which the silver fromt he setting will begin to highlight the less than white of the diamond?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!

PS:
Il add some I find here as I go:

Just based on how you describe her (a bit retro, and I love 'high class hippie', lol!), I would say yes, for her, antique cushions would be more appealing.

yes I'm leaning toward the antique cut.

Leon Mege has 1.3 ct, I VS2 for $4746.00.

I've heard good reviews for his rings, are the diamonds good? sounds too good to be true.
