A Trump supporter and texas official, Sudney miller, who-ironically-had had criticizedsecretary clinton for having her staff check her tweets for errors-tweeted yesterday that she was a "a c*nt". The story has been reported in multiple newspapers.

"A Texas state official celebrated Donald Trump's slight lead over Hillary Clinton in a new poll of Pennsylvanians by calling the Democratic nominee a vulgar term.

The Republican agricultural commissioner said Clinton was a 'cunt' in a tweet Tuesday afternoon. Miller deleted the tweet shortly afterward, but not before the original message could be captured in a screenshot.

Campaign spokesman Mark Loeffler defended Miller on Tuesday, telling the Dallas Morning News he had not written the tweet and believed the account had been hacked.

Stay abreast of the latest developments from nation's capital and beyond with curated News Alerts from the Washington Examiner news desk and delivered to your inbox.

'Clearly this is something that Sid Miller would never tweet out. This is language that he finds disgusting and it's unconscionable,' Loeffler said. 'I think until we get to the bottom of who actually did it, it was something done to make Sid Miller — and by extension, Donald Trump — look bad.'"

Of course.. it's all so degrading.

Disgusting!

From "Trump Adviser’s Slur Is a Sign of Things to Come" in "The New York Times":

"One night, after the Democratic convention, I caught a train back to downtown Philadelphia. Some men boarded the train a few stops after me, shouting about Hillary Clinton. I took out my earphones to listen. 'She’s a slut who belongs in jail,' one of them said.

At the time, I took that remark as a reminder of the sexism driving the antipathy for Mrs. Clinton among some voters. Now I see it as a harbinger of things to come."

There follows a discussion of the latest use of the "c" word and then all the other words used by Trump and his cronies during the course of this campaign against women.

I cannot wait for this election to end.

Republican Sarah Palin was commonly referred to as a "Republic*nt" and if that wasn't bad enough, there was the t-shirts...
It's truly sad, but nothing new. Like Gypsy, I can't wait for this election cycle to be over, but unfortunately, we'll have to go through it again, and again, and again.... :nono:

Sarah Palin was stupid and dangerous. Sarah Palin enraged me. But whatever angry thoughts I might have had about her I would never have called Sarah Palin a c*unt. The word demeans all women, as do other words like "slut" and "bimbo" when casually used to denigrate a woman as an intellectual lightweight and someone who can be dismissed from serious consideration. Those words are used in an attempt to tie the woman's character (her sexuality) to a lower social class and thus to a lower level of ability to reason well; be articulate; govern; etc.

I am not a fan of Sarah Palin. At. All. Hearing her voice still makes my skin crawl.
I don't like hearing her (or Hillary) being referred to a c*unt, but referring to Trump (or other male politicians) as a d*ck somehow seems okay? I guess because he (or others) might seem to deserve it?
The bottom line is that we'd all be in a better place if we didn't allow politics to get so darn ugly. Even the politicians themselves engage in the name-calling and the nastiness. And the media only fuels the fire. It's a big sh*t-show.

Well...I don't believe you heard me say anything about calling men "dicks", either pro or con. Correct? I confined my posting to women being called "c*nts". You are raising another topic here and somehow acting as if because someone hasprotested the use of discriminatory slurs against women that she is encouraging vulgar slurs against men. That is not logical.

However, since you brought this up, although I , personally, never use the term "dick", the reason i do not is that I dislike its vulgarity. I do not feel that it demeans a man the way the terms "c*nt", "bimbo", and "slut" demean women. In fact, many men like being called "dicks" as in "Big Swinging Dicks" (Liar's Poker) and pricks. because the terms dick and prick used for men just mean "bad guy" or "mean guy" and that gives them bragging rights.

Deb

^No, you're right, I wasn't referring to you using the term d*ck (or any other name-calling for that matter).
I was just pointing out that the name-calling works both ways.
I suppose some might find the term "d*ck" as somehow less offensive, but in the grand scheme of things, how does that make any of it better? It's still name-calling and doesn't really serve a productive purpose.
I don't know of any guy who would like to be referred to as a d*ck/pr*ck because I have only ever heard it being used in negative ways (to refer to a guy that is rude, mean, etc.).

Deb, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Words mean things. It continues to stun and baffle me that people (and yes, Momhappy, that includes you, although my inclusion of you doesn't mean I think you're a terrible person or that I disapprove of you as a poster or anything) still fail to recognize that while the shock value may have worn off for some, and the overuse of sexist, vulgar terms like "cunt" and "slut" have lulled the desensitized into complacency, many more of us will always point out their underlying meaning and the hatred with which they are uttered. The desensitized or those who are unwilling to DO anything about these things can certainly roll their eyes and sit back and not care. People like Deb and myself will keep refusing to accept anything less than equal treatment of and respect for all humans through every vehicle of communication. Why? Because we care. Because we are feminists. Because we are humanists. Because all of our children deserve better.

I never use that word for any woman. It is a disgusting and vile denigration that IMO is used by those with little intelligence and a disrespect for women. Dick and prick are terms that I rarely use and to me they are negative terms that can be interchanged with a$$hole.

I'm not that surprised unfortunately.

On the term of insults, I generally try to steer clear of gendered insults, as I find it offensive both ways.

When did I say that I found it acceptable? I don't. Just because I posted to include the terms d*ck/pr*ck, doesn't mean that I'm minimizing the issue that Deb brought up in this thread.
I posted the image of the Palin t-shirts because I found them to be horribly offensive. None of that is okay, but this thread implied that the use of the term "c*nt" was somehow inspired by Trump (and maybe it was), but that term has been thrown around long before Trump entered the picture, which doesn't mean that I find it acceptable, or don't care, etc. It just means that I pointed out that Palin was called a c*nt too, which again, isn't okay either.
I think I'm a happier person these days when I'm not attempting to discuss politics (and I say "attempting" because apparently I suck at getting my point across) so on that note, I'll visit SMTB.
:wavey:

I have to agree with momhappy that she did not condone or find the term acceptable. She did point out the fact that Sarah Palin was called that long before this election cycle and that calling a woman in politics that term was nothing new. This is not condoning it. I did a search and there is a 2008 thread on Sarah Palin here on PS that has 1430 comments and is 48 pages long. Most of it is not nice.

The people in the Sarah Palin photo don't speak for me, just as Sid Miller does not speak for all Trump supporters.

I agree with you that momhappy simply appeared to be attempting to point out that "c*nt" had been used before, and by the other side {although not by a highly placed official), when she posted the photo. She did not appear to be condoning the use of the word. But, as momhappy herself posted, the denigration of women by Trump may have created the atmosphere in which the use of this word became more prevalent.* That is my beef with Trump. He and his followers will all pull women down if we allow it. (So we cannot.)

*"but this thread implied that the use of the term "c*nt" was somehow inspired by Trump (and maybe it was)"
