Trump is requesting his children top security clearance

Not sure if I know enough about this or how I feel about it yet. I do think he depends on his kids, especially Ivanka, for counsel. But it does throw a bit of a pickle into it with his business. It is good that he asks ahead of time though.

If he depends on his kids for counsel, then they need to quit their jobs running the company and have it put in a blind trust, like every other president has done (GWB had his assets put into a blind trust - Obama doesn't have the kind of assets that need to be put into a blind trust - Romney would have had them put into a trust, etc). I did see that Rudy Giuliani said his kids would be thrown out of jobs if the 'business' went into a blind trust, they wouldnt have any way to make money I guess.. I was shocked (as they are all millionaires with just assets and could live off their interest income while Dad is prez). it's this type of logic that get's me in a tizzy.

I am HIGHLY against this. HIGHLY. Some people think that because they work on his transition team they should have it, but absolutely not. I just don't agree.

Exactly. They can do one or the other, but not both. And the idea that they somehow "should" be able to do both is ridiculous.

Yeah. That's what I think. I am iffy about them being involved in government at all, but, well, Donald is president and it has been clear since day one that he relies on his kids a lot. And they seem to be the only people who can really manage him. So. I think it would be better if they were involved, no matter how much I don't like the idea from a philosophical standpoint. BUT they can't also run the business - that's clearly not right. Plus how on earth would they have the TIME to do both??

And re: Tekate, yeah, they'd be out of paying jobs, but firstly they've got the money to not need paying jobs, secondly it wouldn't be forever, and thirdly it's not like they won't be able to immediately get their jobs back when they want them. That anyone is making that argument at all is silly. I kind of feel like - tough nuts. I've seen people running for city positions give up more to eliminate conflicts of interest.
