'Everyone invited to a shower should be invited to the wedding.'

The etiquette answer would be TRUE, but it doesn't really always happen. I was invited to a shower & not a wedding. But that was ages ago, and I don't even speak to the bride anymore.

"It's *your* special day... Don't you want it to be perfect?" [said by the vendors that are trying to fleece you... Grrrr!]

True! If you''re invited to the shower, it''s understood that you''ll be invited to the wedding. Otherwise, it''s just an invitation to give the bride a gift at the shower! Plus, showers are traditionally for those closest to the bride.

FALSE - sure I want everything to go pretty much according to plan, but I'm not going to have a cow like those girls do on Bridezillas on TV. And I certainly don't want to have a huge debt after my wedding from a 6 to 8 hour event. Isn't that what the vendors are basically saying... "You should want it to be perfect so you should pay my inflation rate of 200% above my normal price!" Besides, the little things that happen are what make a wedding unique and memorable. I'd rather have that than cookie cutter that people just come and go through the motions.

''Save the date wedding magnets are cute!''
TRUE - I''ve never gotten one, but I think they''re cute! Good way to remind me to pencil that date in, otherwise the paper STD''s go in the mail pile and get forgotten! These get a special place on the frig so I can look forward to it!

Hmmm... False? I know of couples who are doing a wine or sand ceremony, but I think of the three, the candle ceremony is still the most popular...

False... I found a dress that suits me perfectly, and know that looking at anything else is wasted time I could be using to get other decisions made.

"Bridesmaids should not feel responsible to help with the wedding process."

False, but only because I count a venting outlet as part of the planning process. At some point, you'll need someone to blow steam off with. It'd be nice for you to be able to do that with friends. I'm NOT saying they should be tasked to review venues, evaluate photographers, etc. That's stuff that you, your FI and possibly parents should do. NOT your bridal party. Also getting a tux/dress does count as part of the planning process, right? ANYWAY, I don't think they should do the nitty gritty stuff if they don't want to, but it's always great if they don't mind helping.

ETA: Oops, forgot a question:
"Rain on your wedding day is not the end of the world."

True!!!! Unless your wedding is outdoor and you don''t have an indoor alternative....

Simple true/false one coming...

"The honeymoon has to take place right after the wedding."

False, it''s your wedding do whatever you want!

Question: ''Kids in the wedding party are cute''
True if it''s your wedding party. False if it''s mine.

Question: "It''s okay for him to have a stripper at the bachelor party"

For me, it''d be True, but that''s just me.

Question: "The bridal party has to match each other."

Question: ''The bridal party has to match each other.''

For me, True, I really dislike the look of the maids all having different dresses or different colors. NOT SAYING that it cannot be done and still look nice (because I have seen it look VERY NICE). All my maids will match.

'the ushers should be dressed in the same tuxes as the groomsmen'
True, at my wedding. It will just be easier, and there's also only one usher.

"The couple should register for formal china."

*the wedding couple should register for formal china*

This can be true or false. I personally think that everyone should have formal china because it''s beautiful and can make any meal a lot more special. However if you are they type of couple that cringes at the thought then no. You only have to register for what YOU want.

*It''s your wedding day! You HAVE to wear a veil!*

False! It''s all about your personal sense of style and what you feel comfortable wearing. Although I''m a nontraditional bride, I''ve chosen to wear a veil. But a headpiece, flowers, fancy updo, or just plain hair all work fine for different people.

''Even if you aren''t changing your name, you should be announced as ''Mr. and Mrs. HisName''''
False! I''m not planning on changing my name, and although I won''t be upset at being called "Mrs. HisLast," I will be very upset if called "Mrs. HisFirst HisLast." Since when did I lose my first name? Anyway, we''ll be announced as "the newlyweds, MyFirst and HisFirst."

"Your wedding ring should match your spouse''s."

I''m so glad that''s false... LOL! Because I want an eternity band so bad... hehehehe

"As a bride, you father has to walk you down the aisle."

False for me. My mom and my step dad will walk me down the aisle.

"You have to announce your bridal party at the reception" (My fiance thinks its cheesy to do announcements of bridal party and us...I''d like to hear what you have to say)

'You have to announce your bridal party at the reception' (My fiance thinks its cheesy to do announcements of bridal party and us...I'd like to hear what you have to say)
False... my bridal party is there for me, and it's not necessary that everyone there know who they are. That's what programs and webpages are for. I don't need the DJ wasting valuable party time yapping on the microphone any longer than he needs to be. IMO, of course.

ETA: EL1, you should start a thread about this, because I've been to weddings where they have done it both ways. There doesn't seem to be an outstanding majority that does or doesn't announce wedding parties, to me anyway.

''Your something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue, should all be from family members.''
False - I think it should come from people most important to you. Plus I also think it''s just a tradition/superstition anyway. But it is a nice thought and a nice way to bring together things from those most important to you as you step into a new chapter of your life.

(I second the idea above to start a thread about announcing wedding party and couple - I''d be very interested to hear different opinions. I don''t even know if I want to be "announced" at all!)

"There is a point to holding a boquet."

''There is a point to holding a boquet.''

LOL! Yes, put it down after the ceramony.

"You have to have an engagement party"

False! I didn''t have one, and I''m not planning on having a shower either, which brings me to the following...

"you have to have a bridal shower"

False.

I did not want a shower because DH and I had been living in our own home together for two years prior to the wedding and pretty much had everything we needed. My mother insisted because I am her only daughter. She wanted to have her shining "it's my daughter's bridal shower" moment! Haha. I still have boatloads of house stuff and cooking stuff and STUFF from the shower in my guest bedroom. And the shower was back in June......

My question/statement:

"I would do it all over again if I could."

ETA: I just saw this was for "BRIDES TO BE" Oops. So here.

"If a husband and wife are BM and GM, they should walk together"

Can I play again?

True, it makes more sense to me. And they''ll be together in pictures, too.

"Registering for honeymoon contributions is just a sly way of asking for cash"

False. I know asking for money outright is considered "wrong" and I understand it, but in today''s world, it makes perfect sense to me. Most people have such distinct tastes anyway (or already have everything they need) that receiving towels and cookware, especially ones you don''t like or want, is just silly. I don''t have any extra room in my house as it is now anyway, and I certainly don''t need extra stuff lying around. I think a honeymoon registry is good because it gives the people that realize all this a way to still help you towards your wedding/honeymoon. The people that are still traditional will probably just give housewares anyway.

"It''s wrong to have my wedding at an in-state destination if I know some of my family may not be able to afford even a one night stay to get there and back."
