True Hearts at JA

Hey all,

Been looking through the true hearts collection at JA, and I've been wondering:

What is the value in TH designation? Some of the stones I see with TH are AGS0 with great performance, and some look like- well- this:

So anyway, my question is what standards does JA use to determine if a stone is TH or not?

It seems to be the opinion of some pros around here that TH are less strict in precision cut parameters as other top cut diamonds such as WF, GOG, CBI. My tendency would be to go to the latter vendors if I wanted to pay for top cut (which I have done).

I spent a lot of time looking through the TH at JA. Some of the stones are very well cut. Some, not as much. The hearts (where posted) aren't as symmetrical as what you see over at Brian Gavin and Whiteflash. Most don't have hearts posted. And on the AGS certs (when available), the light map is not always as impressive as a what you find on a BG or WF AGS ideal cert. Those are always "the best of the best". Some of the ones at JA are still AGS ideal, but leaking light, angles are probably borderline for AGS Ideal cuts, whereas you don't have to wonder about the BG and WF diamonds. They are the creme de la creme.

Then again, the best of the JA diamonds probably stack up just as fine as the other vendor's options. Unfortunately, a bunch aren't quite as good.
