I just did a quick search and it doesn''t look like we have a thread for True Blood yet. How is that possible??? Anywho, I know we have a ton of Sookie Stackhouse book lovers, but is anyone watching the series? I haven''t read the books, but I''m totally into the series. I can''t get enough...

I love the show. I love the opening song...it''s really haunting. I didn''t know there were books until a few weeks ago...are they any good? I know the show is pretty adult, but the books are marketed to teens...

Actually, the books are not marketed to teens at all. They have goofy cover art that might give you that idea, but they are most definitely adult books. I have read 5 or 6 of them and I think they are pretty good. I haven''t watched the TV show though.

I love Trueblood but I''ve only seen Season One. Don''t have HBO at home.

I''ve read all the books except the last one; they were a fun read. The series seems to depart from the books a bit, though.

Italia, were you maybe thinking of the book series "The Vampire Diaries"? They''re marketed to teens.

LOVE ALL OF IT!! I finished the first book of the series yesterday!!! (Yes, in 1 DAY, finished, and I do work a full time job!!!)

ETA: The books are MOST DEF NOT marketed to teens. Do not buy them as a gift for ANY teen. They are for adults, plain and simple!

HH, thanks for starting this thread! I was going to open one in the "Library" this afternoon, since I am now reading the series.

OMG! I love love love the series. I haven''t read the books yet, but I tend to not like the movie or tv show after I read the books, so I didn''t want to ruin it!

I read the books years ago, my DH and I are into Vampires big time and totally love the series.

I love the way the scriptwriters have incorporated a lot of the books story lines but also enhanced the characters alot. I love the way Tara and Lafayette speak to each other and say bitch all the time, cracks me up. I think its totally addictive and I love Jason, he''s funny.

We''re also big fans of Dexter and the graphics company that does the opening credits for True Blood also do the opening credits for Dexter - check it out, same style.

It will be interesting if they ever make the Anita Blake novels into a tv show, that will probably be on the pornchanne.

rbh apparently Charlaine Harris was at Comic-con a few weeks ago and she stated that the books and the show were not the same and were not supposed to be treated or approached as such.

We don''t have HBO either, so we have been getting them on Netflix. I want to know one thing.

Are Sookie and Bill still together?????????

I was wondering if that was the case! I always thought the Dexter opening was so creepy/cool, and the first time I saw the TB opener, I immediately saw the similarities. I also love what they''ve done with Tara and Lafayette, especially his arc. I won''t spoil anything about his experiences this season, but the change in his personality as a result is heartbreaking, in a way. I am reading the books now, and am on the fourth. Love them both!

Well... one thing I notice. The male actors look like they need to wash their hair.

Hahaha so true Linda.

ha ha this show is like ****. i just started getting into it this season after watching 1-2 episodes last season and when i would put it on...Greg would wander by and be like WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING??? now he is totally hooked too.

does anyone else think that the wife of the preacher guy has the biggest buckie beaver teeth? and she is so tiny so they seem huge.

I love True Blood!! I've recommended it to my friends, but told them it is for adults only

One of my friends said she had no idea it would be so graphic. I did warn her

I have a crush on Eric. He's my kind of vamp...what does that say about me

Love, love, LOVE the tv series! We got them through Netflix (don''t have HBO) and watched them within the same day just so we could get three more. The DVDs are kinda wierd - they aren''t clear about which one is next in the series, and I think we missed an episode somewhere - but we LOVED it.

I love the show. All of the characters are very well acted. I haven't read the books yet. If I could be a vampire, I would have the most amazing diamond collection!!

Love the show and the books! I''m actually going through the books for the second time right now.

Drool...me too! I love blonde "bad guys" for some reason. Goes against the stereotype, I guess.

So strange that I stumbled on this topic when I just started reading Dead Until Dark yesterday...I love it!

I didn''t even know about the HBO show until the lady behind the counter at B&N told me about it.

What night is it on? Being that I''m only on book 1, do you think the show will spoil anything?

Sunday nights, 8pm CST.

You can read and watch both of them at the same time. I started and finished Dead until Dark yesterday, and by the end of the week will hopefully be far ahead of the show. The show, where it is now, will not spoil anything that you will read in the first book. It's way ahead already, and there are alot more characters now.
