Can anyone please suggest upscale areas of London to stay that would have lots of family friendly amenities?
Restaurants, shops, supermarkets, etc.. within walking distance? I know the tubes make it easy to get around the city, but would like to have "home base" close to many conveniences.

Thanks everyone for your help!

We stayed in Kensington close to Kensington Palace and loved it! I''m not sure if it is considered upscale though.

I don''t know of any upscale places to recommend because I studied in London as a poor college student and thus stayed in a very seedy place.

However, I just wanted to say: HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!! I loved living in London, and I cannot wait to go back.

Will you have the chance to visit Stratford upon Avon for a weekend? (That is, if you''ll be there during theatre season.) It''s wonderful.
