Should I pull the trigger on this stone?? :errrr: What do you guys think? I was looking at the antiques but they may be a bit out of my price range for the specs I wanted. I found this beautiful (sort of x cut) stone with an awesome ASET and good size square measurements. Please take a look at the Sarin report as well.

Also, my two concerns are:
There's only 1 noticeable inclusion, a tiny cloud, (from the pictures only, but it is eye clean) but its right in the middle of the stone.
Does the bottom of the ASET pic look weak?
What do you think?? Is the stone this: :(( or this: :lickout:

1.51 G VS2
6.58 X 6.52 X 4.48
Polish/Symmetry: X / VG

Crown Angle: 37.1 34.5-39.9

Girdle: .1-.41 1.39% - 5.94%
Table off center: .01mm .2%
Culet off center: .4%

I think it looks pretty good-what does your vendor say? what is the clarity grade?

I would agree with pretty good, but not as good as some of the other modern cushions I have seen lately.

I really like the patterning!

Ditto slg - ask WF if it's clean to your requirements, whatever they are (clean from 6" face-up w/ 20/20 vision? from 12"? sides as well? etc.)

It's a VS2.

Do you have pictures of any better modern cushions for me to compare? I have'nt seen that many beside the antique ones. Thank you.

Yssie, I'll definitely ask them tomorrow.

Well, I think it's lovely. I like it.

you should be fine with VS2 cloud :) How do you plan to set it?

Halo Setting

That's an awesome looking cushion, although I'm not entirely sure what good cushions are supposed to look like. Does WF say it's an ideal light performer?

There is no ideal for generic cushions. And vendor designations like "ideal" are largely meaningless with fancy diamonds unless they are based solely on light return and patterning, which would normally mean a branded cut. Branded cushions like AVC the only cushions I know with actual "ideal" performance rating from AGS. THAT SAID, the ASET of this stone shows excellent light return and nice patterning.

I think the stone is very pretty and has a lovely facet pattern. A VS2 cloud would be very safe. Its possible that that ASET photo was slightly wonky when photographed because from the other images the symmetry looks very even. Cushions are very subjective and what one person loves another hates- so do you like it?

I do like it, but obviously I want to see it in person first.

I agree with others, the vintage cushions are much nicer. Unfortunately, all of the currently available ones are either too expensive or don't meet my specs. I can't wait either since I want to pop the question very very soon.

I don't think so! There are beautiful vintage cushions and unattractive vintage cushions-same with modern cushions. Really just a matter of personal preference :)

Me too. That's like saying, I know oranges are better but I could only find apples. Apples are the best for apple lovers-- and oranges are best for orange lovers but that doesn't mean either is empirically better than the other. I love both the chunky cushions and the modern and this is a really nice example of a modern one.

IF SHE ASKED FOR A CHUNKY CUSHION, don't buy this one and wait. BUT if she hasn't expressed a facet preference then you are fine. HER preferences are the ones that matter.
