When the heck does this happen?

Hunter is 14 months and has started going down for his morning nap around 10/10:30 and sleeing for 2-2.5 hours. So he wakes around 12 or 12:30! He goes to bed at 6:30 pm so getting in that second nap is a challenge some days.

When do they transition to one nap?? How did you manage it?

Kyle does one nap at daycare, but still does 2 naps for me on the weekends most times. He wakes up at 6-6:30am, and on the days he does one nap he doesn''t go down until 12-12:30pm. On the weekends he''ll do a 9:30 nap for an hour, then a 2pm nap for another hour.

Maybe try moving the nap back a bit at a time, until it''s more in the middle of the day?

Amelia did this transition at around 15 months, I wanna say. I''d have to go back and look. It was definitely before we moved to our new place, which was at 17 months.

I pushed the morning nap back a bit and moved the bedtime up. I believe the the one nap time started at 11 and she slept often until 1:30 or 2. Bedtime was at 6 pm.

As time went on, I pushed the morning nap back. To 11:30, 12, and 12:30 then finally 1pm where it is now. The bedtime also got pushed back later to about 6:30 (now 7). Basically as they get older, then can stay awake longer for the first part of the day. Even with a 2-2.5 nap, they get tired later in the day and can get back down for the night within 3-4 hours.

Hunter goes down for nap earlier at home than at daycare most days. Funny.

I thought that they would not go to one nap until closer to 18 months, but perhaps he will be ready a little sooner. But not yet I think, since he still goes down for the am nap by 10am when he is at home.

He wakes at 6am, we get him for the day at 6:30 and then he is in bed at 6-7, depends when his last nap was.

I thought it would happen later (and in fact, was bummed that it happened so fast for us). But she started being awake consistently through one of her naps, so I knew it was time. Her morning nap was also around 10 am, but she kept awake through it, so that''s why I started pushing back. She just wasn''t as tired.

Because she had to go longer stretches of awake time, I had to move the bedtime forward to accomodate. Basically she''d wake up around 6:30-7, manage to be up 4.5 hours until 11 am nap, then up at 1-2ish, and could manage to be up another 4.5ish hours to bedtime.

My memory is horrible and it seems I didn''t take any notes on exactly when he switched to one nap. Bad mommy! I do know that at 13-14 months he kept switching between 1 and 2 naps. One nap happened sometime around 15 or 16 months.
