PS friends,
Can you help me determine how complicated it would be to get my boss on a train at Heathrow traveling North to Manchester? If the train continues, he would like to go even farther to Preston.

Or, should he just take the $115 connecting flight?

Thanks all

The changes involve getting the underground into London and then getting the direct train to Preston from Euston Station. A little bit daunting if you don''t know your way around.

I agree with Maisie, the underground is daunting if you aren''t used to it, especially if he has much luggage with him it might just be best to fly the rest of the way for that price.

Thanks gals. I''m also having a hard time with finding the price - advanced purchase and all that. Airplanes we both know so I think we''ll go that route. Thanks for your help. Still couldn''t figure out how to get a price. Oh well.

def stick to the plane, train is much more hassle, and probably not much cheaper!

I think it would definitely be cheaper to fly at that price. I remember the trains being fairly expensive for long-ish trips. Oh, and the train from Heathrow into Paddington was down, so an $150 taxi ride later I was pretty unhappy

I priced it up for you. If you were to travel at an off peak time it could cost around £78 return. An open ticket can cost as must as £279. Hope that helps.

HE SHOULD TAKE THE FLIGHT!!!!!!!

No question. I''ve done that trip myself by train and by plane often enough. It isn''t just the train time - it''s the connection (and getting from Heathrow Airport to London Euston, where the fast trains to Manchester go from, will take at least an hour and a LOT of hassle.

$115 is a bargain. Your boss will thank you.

Thank you all so kindly.

I agree - just stick to the plane!
