Hello,
Is it possible for me to tell if a diamond is eye clean from a site that has a pic of the diamond (and has a virtual loupe). I'm thinking of James Allen.
I am looking at the pics, and sometimes I see an inclusion on an VS2 even without using the lope. But I'm actually not sure if what I'm seeing is an inclusion, light refraction, dust, or a spec of dirt that is laying on the sheet underneath the diamond when it was photographed.
I care very much that the diamond be eye clean, which means that I can take a look at the stone as close up as I want, like from 2 inches away with my eyes and not be able to tell any imperfections. I do not take eye clean to mean that if the ring is held at normal reading distance, no imperfections can be seen. I imagine my lady is going to want to feel free to admire the stone, let it play in the light, and I don't want her to be able to see anything visible. She'd never use a loupe.
To ensure eyecleanness--is my best course of action to get trained myself, just call and ask someone like James Allen or whomever if it's "eye clean" and trust them, or put up links here and ask some senior members to verify, or just buy straight from retail?
Thank you!
