I know this might be personal for some, so obviously feel free not to answer, but I was wondering how many PSers have read self-help books. I was browsing Barnes and Noble earlier, and I was surprised at how many self-help books there are. There''s something out there for everything and everyone! I''ve never read one before but I know people have found them helpful in the past.

I used to when I was younger but not any in the past 10 years or so. I never felt like they related enough to me and the
authors always seem like they were patting themselves on the back too much. I would definitely be willing to read another
one if I honestly felt that it could help me or give me some insight.

I like Dr. John Gottman''s marriage books, and they are typically shelved in the self-help section. They''re well written and interesting to read.

I also like Alexandra Stoddard''s books, which can be found in self-help as well. Her books are just super positive and they''re kind of like a breath of fresh air. Some editions are beautifully illustrated, as well. A former colleague gave one of her books to me because she said I reminded her of the books, always upbeat and positive, so maybe I like them because I was given such a nice compliment along with the gift of the book.

I have a friend who loves that book about the five love languages, as well as the 7 Habits books. I believe both can be found in self-help. I''ve skimmed the love languages book and it was interesting. I''ve never read the 7 Habits books, though.
