So I have decided that I would like a EC e-ring :) Taking into account the budget and mininmum specs I have happy with, I am torn between two options:

1. a 1ct EC solitare with a plain 2 mm band; or

2. a 3/4ct with a baguette and brillant halo and a plain 2 mm band.

I like the solitare as it is simple and elegant (and a bigger a rock), but the 3/4ct EC with a halo is prettier design and provides more finger coverage for my size 7 finger (but a smaller center stone).

To help me decide, could I have please your opinion on which option you''d go with and why

I''d also like to add that there is no option of upgrading later on.

I''d go for the bigger solitare because it''s a classic look, and a 1ct solitare is a great size. A .75 emerald may get lost in a halo, and if you change your mind down the road and want a reset, you''re stuck with a smaller stone.

Ditto elle. A solitaire is classic. You can dress it up or down later with bands. Halo''s will be dated in 20 years.

Thritto the solitaire!!

I would go with the halo but not a baguette and round brilliant halo though. Just a normal RB halo.

The right sized halo can enhance the stone size and give you great finger coverage!

I would probably go with the solitare then when/if I got bored with the setting upgrade the setting to a halo
(I would just go with plain rounds also).

I''d go with the halo.

Thanks for the opinions everyone!

I think I''m leaning towards the 3/4ct stone with a halo/cluster as a 1 ct solitare looks tiny on my size 7 finger

The 3/4ct stone is only about 0.5mm smaller than the 1ct stone too...

... but then again there is something inside me that tells me I need at lease 1ct - those diamond marketers sure have doen a good job brain washing me

Another thing to consider - do you think you'll ever upgrade, and would using your original setting be of interest at that point? A halo can be very difficult to reuse, especially if centre size changes more than a limited amount - though, of course, you could always put in a coloured gem.

I think solitaires and solitaires in halos are very "engagementy", but I'd hesitate to go with a cluster (though that's probably because I've never seen one done well IRL

Why don't you save up and buy a 1 ct halo e-ring?
