Update:

I got the ring yesterday. It's incredibly dainty and the diamonds have more contrast than the pictures showed, so even in low lighting they scintillate. The miligraining is tiny and perfect.

But I don't love it. :(sad Due to the plat facing on the head/setting continuing down the shank, it looks like it's white gold/plat when worn on the finger (the change to YG is hidden by the adjoining fingers) which is the opposite of what I want - obvious yellow gold shank, with white metal just on the head around the stones.

The ring is so much more dainty than I expected- I don't think it can be resized 2.5 sizes (it's a 6.5 right now) because the shank itself is so delicate ... I think cutting open the back and putting in a bar of gold (which they'll probably have to do) that big will just warp this little ring all to hell.

Since the white metal facing wasn't disclosed on the listing or in the pictures I am going to return it under the ebay protection policy as 'not described' because I wouldn't have bought it if I knew!! I have seen other similar rings which did have that 1/2 white facing that I passed on because I don't want a white metal ring, I want a yellow gold ring.

The seller was polite in our interactions so I hope this can all be resolved asap. I thought about reselling it for what I paid in pre-loved PS jewels since it's a beautiful little ring and there are plenty of people out there who don't mind white metal, but I think it will be easier just to return it and eat the shipping costs.

I've been pretty bummed out all weekend over this- I can't help feeling like this is a hopeless exercise.:blackeye: We were going to take a look at jewellery shops today to see if there are any styles of rings out there that I do like and can use as a starting point, but they're all closed on Sundays and it will be next Saturday before we have another chance to go.

Me too. I think it's going to be impossible to find something that will work if I can't try it on, but with my horrible swollen sausages I won't be able to try anything on until it's sized. It just feels so hopeless right now. ;(
 
I think it could easily be sizes 2.5 sizes. My jeweler sized a channel set band up four sizes for me with no issues at all and it was still round - just an FYI if you decide to keep it

I will try to get pics tomorrow, but the band is CRAZY dainty. I just can't see it surviving being messed with that much. It's a very very delicate band at the back.
 
I've had a rather dainty ring re-sized from a 4 to a 7 without any problem. The jeweler re-rounded it for me and the wire thin filigree looks wonderful. It is slightly oval, which the jeweler warned may happen, but all the filigree is in place which I never thought would happen! I know that you're unhappy with it for other reasons, but I think the re-sizing would be possible. A bar of gold isn't just placed in the back, the jeweler would work the metal to curve to your finger like it should do.
