And even if there is custom engraving, I can still have it resized?

Let me make sure I'm clear on things....I can do the tacori 2578 (1/2 eternity), and on the BOTTOM part of the ring I can do this custom engraving? (like on the links u sent, diamondseeker)

I am not sure if you can have it resized if it is engraved without breaking the pattern of the engraving? I would ask Tacori. is the engraving something you think your GF would like?

Actually I think she would love full eternity most. But if I can do engraving and still resize, I'll go that option.

I am sure after resizing they can engrave the area that is affected. MUCH easier to deal with than sizing an area with pave.

I agree. Many times engraving will wear down/off as well. I may have missed it but are you doing platinum? If so, they can polish and redo engraving much easier.

Yes I'm definitely doing platinum.

Do u think I can contact tacori directly to answer these questions?

No, you can't call Tacori directly. They will want you to ask through an authorized retailer. Do you have a local one? You need a local one just so if/when you need a repair, they can send it to Tacori for you.

The closest in an hour away. I don't mind dealing with them....I just know they won't know the answers to my questions.
But that's probably my only option.

They will likely have to call. So call them and give them a list of your questions so that they can call Tacori and you can know what you want before you take the stone to them to send to Tacori. Be sure to tell them you want the ring made by Tacori (as in, you do NOT want the sample ring!) and you want the Tacori box and paperwork/warranty. Tacori is good about replacing lost pave but you have to have the warranty and they need to set your stone, not the jeweler.

Well after all this time, finally got the diamond in, finally got the setting picked out...now I just have to decide on the layout! Wish I could see a sample of a tacori 2578 with engraving but that's like a needle in a haystack I'm sure!

The ring is going to be incredibly beautiful, that I am sure of!

Sure do appreciate it!
hopefully Tacori can answer a few questions today!
I've looked at a lot of Tacori engraving last night...it's actually pretty incredible!

Yes, their rings are absolutely gorgeous and engraving is beautiful on their settings!

I talked with the local (which is not so local because of where I live) Tacori dealer this morning. I complied a list of about 8 questions, so hopefully he can get them all answered today. I just hate not being able to contact Tacori directly, but I guess that's life!

I did do a little research, and It seems like Tacori does alot more customizing than I thought. I assumed they wouldn't alter their designs much, but it seems like they will do alot for the customer to meet their needs! I'm hoping they have an engravement pattern that works well with the 2578.

I know you will fuss me (haha) but I even questioned resizing the full eternity band. It just seems like they would be able to do something to resize, without the customer paying a full $7,500 for a new ring.

Well I had a much better experience yesterday with a local Tacori Jeweler. This guy was very easy to deal with. He wasn't pressuring to make any particular sale or choice. It was like two friends chatting over a topic.

I had a mile list of questions, and he was able to contact Tacori and get them all answered but one (which they are working on!)
VERY SURPRISINGLY, Tacori said they can re-size the full eternity 2578 bigger to 1/4 - 1/2 size without messing anything up! They did mention this past week, they came out with the 3/4 eternity for that style, so that actually sparked my interest as well! He also said they could do engraving on that ring...but the jeweler actually said that might eventually wear down because of rubbing and/or polishing. (anyone know any truth behind this?)

My jeweler also said Tacori charges a setting fee of $80, but he would cover it. He also would cover the shipping and insurance of my diamond to and from Tacori. I didn't think that was a normal process, so I thought that was a nice "extra". They clean and also polish for free. I'm really uncertain about the payment process , but I asked my jeweler. He said he would collect half as a deposit for Tacori to get started, then pay the remaining balance after I picked it up. (I wasn't sure if this was normal either.) But it seemed nicer than paying all up front!

I'm sure everyone has their own taste, but I really didn't like the "arrow-shaped" prongs on this ring, so I asked if they could do some different or more "feminine" - Tacori said that wasn't a problem to change the prong style! Anyone have any thoughts on the prongs, or what I should get?

Lastly.....(the only question I'm waiting on an answer on) - I wanted Tacori to put a "surprise stone" inside of the band. Her birth stone is emerald and I wanted a little personal touch. I really doubt they can help out with this one, but at least they are looking into it!

Well, that's my latest report!!

Well, it sounds like a good experience all around and the sales guy is being truthful. There probably is a setting fee since you didn't buy the stone from them. Doing 3/4 eternity would be my choice and yes, engraving can wear off, I mentioned that in a post above ;)) Jewelers all have different policy's for payment options but 1/2 up front sounds like a nice deal. I'd just pay with a credit card I'd you can, much easier to dispute and get money back. Hopefully, that won't be the case but sadly it has happened, even with Tacori dealers. make sure you get all the Tacori paperwork/certificates and that your stone does get sent to Tacori to be set. I'd have them shave down/taper the prongs. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback on everything!
I checked out a few other Tacori prongs. I saw a few nice options...I'm just looking for something a little more shaved, and maybe rounded!

You mentioned paying the deposit with a credit card. What do you think about asking about a discount for paying with cash to avoid credit card transaction charges? Seema like I could still dispute if I have my receipt from them.

Oh, 3/4 is perfect!!!! :appl: That is the best solution regardless of whether you do the engraving! You cannot predict her size changes over a lifetime. My size is now 3/4 more than when I got married looong ago. So don't take the chance! Not to mention she's surely damage pave on the palm side of her hand over time.

It sounds like everything they said was totally good! Not a thing wrong with asking if they take a lower price for cash. You aren't going to have a dispute with a jeweler that carries Tacori. If the ring came back with a problem, they'd just send it back and you wouldn't pay the balance until it was right. So it sounds like you have this all worked out! And I seriously cannot wait to see this gorgeous ring finished!!!!

We can help you with prongs. Let me try to find a large picture of your ring, first.

Okay, two things. I think the style of the prongs is right for the setting, but I would just ask them to try to make the prong tips a little smaller. The second thing is that in the pictures I saw, the stone is set WAY too high, and that will be a problem because she is going to whack it on things more. So I would ask for the stone to be set lower than in the sample pictures. Here are pictures that show a side view and view of the prongs in another:

I like the prongs, up until you see a view from directly above. They look exactly like arrows. I just don't think it has that "feminine" feel, but I know that's just my opinion.

Our rings will actually be fairly similar...I think this one is H&A 1.5ct and mine is a H&A 1.71

DS, there was a gal here not long ago where the Tacori dealer set her stone in sample ring and there were issues even though the diamond was supposed to be sent off. She couldn't get help directly from Tacori and the dealer was giving her the run around. Her FI paid cash and they had no recourse and of course the jeweler wouldn't give them a refund. If they had paid with a CC they could have at least gotten their money back. I know these situations are rare, but they do happen. Let me see if I can find the thread...

I've actually seen this thread you are talking about. I did talk to my jeweler and Tacori would definitely make a new ring, and set the stone themselves.

My first ever picture of my stone! I'm "green" to taking diamond pics, but I feel like a proud poppa so I figured I'd post a pic
Now it just needs a home to sit in!! Who knew something so small could cost SO MUCH?! It's sickening lol

Oh, yes, I agree. I hate that! Maybe we'd better find a picture of some better ones to show them!

And gorgeous stone! Almost a twin to mine except mine is just a little smaller!

Yes, I do remember that! I warned him a few pages back to absolutely tell them that he wanted Tacori to custom make the ring for his stone, set the stone, and that he wants the Tacori ring box and warranty paperwork! Sometimes jewelers stop being Tacori dealers and sell off the samples. That is fine if you understand that the setting of the stone and sizing may not meet Tacori standards and you have no warranty with Tacori at all! That girl had a problem because she didn't know she was dealing with a dishonest jeweler, so it is a shame they didn't pay with a credit card in that case. I don't think she ever came back to tell what happened, either. I always wondered. I think it would be unusual, though, because Tacori is pretty particular about the jewelers they choose to carry their line.

Yeah its a great looking stone in person! Looks smaller than i imagined it but i guess its because its loose (or because i have nothing to compare it to!)

Please let me know if you find any prong styles that catch you eye!

I think the way the prongs come up, they will not work well as little rounded tips, but this style seems to be on a lot of their rings and it looks better to me and will not stick out like arrows. I'll look more tomorrow night if I can.

This other style we liked has even better prong tips, but I am not sure it'll work well with the head of the setting you chose. But one of these two should be good.

I really like that kind of style of the second link!

The first link looks like butt-cheeks
(but still better than the arrows!)
