Too many different shaped stones in one ring?

Looking for opinions and advice! I am looking to re-set my engagement ring which has a 1.5 ct princess cut stone. (Picture attached)

My existing wedding band has 5 bar-set princess stones and I would like to wear it with the new ring. I am looking for a modern take on a halo setting, something with clean lines and bezel set. Most halo settings out there have a very vintage feel to them and while that is really beautiful, its not the look I am going for in this ring. I have seen very few settings with the look I am going for, but I do like the one below from Stardust Diamonds which is called "Classic Nouveau" or item X6EC on their website. (Obviously done with a princess cut stone vs the emerald cut in the picture.... Pic attached too.) However, I want to make some changes to it.

My questions:
1. I love the bezel set trap sides and the baguettes on the shank. I am not sure about the step cut stones on the halo itself. Will all those step cut stones look odd with the princess cut which has a more fire-y look to it?

2. I am considering princess cut stones on the halo itself vs the step cut stones. Anyone see princess cuts in the actual halo anywhere? Also not sure how they would do that with the clipped corners on the halo (which I do want to keep.)

3. One jeweler suggested using traditional round stones on the halo and instead of the baguettes on the shank, doing 2 rows of small round stones with metal in between the rows to tie in with all the metal on the bezel setting. Will this be "too many different shaped stones" in one ring? I am also concerned that the round stones will give the ring more of a vintage-y feel and I am looking for more clean lines. on the plus side, I think those round stones will be cheaper.....am I right?

Would love any and all opinions....thanks!!

I'd think you could do princess in the halo - may have to be a round in each corner, though. I like the example you posted.

Okay, it is really good when everything on one topic is all in one thread! I have now read 2 others and maybe I need to go back and change my last answer. Now that I have read this, I will say again that I do not personally love princess cuts and step cuts together very much. But if you want to do a setting like that, I would not do more than two types of stones. If you want step cuts in the setting, then do all step cuts except your princess cut center. Princess in the halo and center will not look good, in my opinion.
