Found this today.. too shallow maybe? it''s the only thing i can think that''s wrong with this.. is it too good to be true? has anyone purchased a ring from www.diamonds-a-diamond.com before? it has an EGL certification. i read that they tend to grade up diamonds.... what do you all think?

Diamond Shape: Cushion Cut
Carat Weight: 2.03 ct
Diamond Measurements: 7.17-9.33x3.94 mm
Diamond Clarity: SI1
Diamond Color: I
Depth: 56.1%
Table: 57.1%
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good

guess i should tell you how much it is... $7800
on a plat band with 2 bag on each side

The price would not be so amazing for GIA J-SI2... and at this point only the seller knows if that is the case.

That depth is not so tremendously low. Have you seen the piece ?

here it is..

The length to width ratio is quite high (1.3), which is a matter of taste but perhaps they are having a hard time finding a buyer for such an elongated stone? What is the date on the cert? Also, it does seem on the shallow side for a cushion. Can you see it in person?

Isn't that a radiant ?

The only think aparent from the picture is that there aremuch better settings out there...

On the other hand... the stone is larger than some 3 carat ones, and not just the overly deep. Any chance to show this to an appraiser?

I am not sure if the rectangular shape (1.3:1 is a stout rectangle) is regarded as a detraction for cushion shapes. That's true for princess cuts it seems, but have not heard of any such consideration for cushions - for what that's worth.

i actually like a more rectangle stone than round... but i''m wondering if this hurts the "sparkle".
i also wondered about the depth.. i''ve read that a good range is 60-65%...
it just seems very reasonable for a stone of that carat wt, including the setting...
i haven''t researched the site enough to know if i can view it in person. i know that is the big concern with cushion shapes.. you have to see them in person to really know... it''s just my bargain hunter gene that always searches for the "best deal" - even if it is not my perfect setting.... my absolutely fav is a setting i sort of doctored up from a p.s. member.. i changed her round to oval. it just seems i couldn''t get the same carat size in an oval for this cushion price

I''ve heard EGL grades up color by atleast one grade but you''ll have to see this diamond in person. Can you get it loose on approval? If the" I" looks really yellowy, then it''s probably more like a J or K. The Even so, it should face up pretty white. Or, it could really be an "I". Is The SI1 completely eyeclean? The diamond sounds a little shallow, but try to see it in person first. I have a 1.5ct SI1 cushion cut and it is eyeclean. Although the two inclusions jump out under the loupe. I love cushion cuts. Mine almost appears like an oval in the setting.

Good Luck!

do you have a picture to post? i''d love to see it... i love the longer shaped stones

sometimes i feel like a diamond connoisseur is much like a wine connoissiur. it seems in both there is soooo much to know in order to make an informed decision..

and when picking out a bottle of wine i usually consider 2 things #1-the price is right or #2- it tastes good... completely oblivious as to #1-why it may be cheap or #2- why it tastes good. kind of a silly analogy, but it works.

i really want to make an informed decision, but at the same time i want to get something that may not be **the best ever** but looks pretty and sparkles..

by the way... for $7.99 you can''t beat Cavit pinot grigio
