Too good to be true? How much would you pay?

I am curious about this stone. I have found it with one (generally reputable) source for <$1000. It does not look like an great stone, from what little I've learnt however the IGL cert estimates its retail value at ~$8K... It also appears on ebay for $2K + . I have found a video of it, and it looks quite nice. I have also requested other photos.

I am purely thinking investment wise - if I can actually get this stone that cheap from this one source, and it is worth up to 8 times more.... ?

The main thing (aside from the vast differences in price across sources) is that the cut grade is "very good" but then in the comments it states "IDEAL CUT" - The quality of the cut of this diamond achieves the optimal dispersion of light and brilliance. It is also clarity enhanced.

Is this a round diamond? If it is, it's too depth. Anyway I will pass on this diamond due to many factors. First, it's too deep if it's round. Second, it's clarity enhanced. While there's no need to avoid all clarity enhanced stones, some enhancements are just cosmetic and stone will turn into frozen spit given the right circumstances. Third, I have never heard of IGL. If it's an alright diamond, why not send it to a known lab? Lastly, a diamond is non perishable. It has no expiry date. So there's no bargain to be had unless the seller does not know what he has (possible in a few rare cases when kids are selling their mum's diamonds type of scenario) or if the seller is desperate to cash out. So if it's cheap, there's a reason for it.

Yes, it is RB sorry. Edited post to add. Thanks for your thoughts. I realised it's not very good spec wise, but even so, I was thinking that they may be selling themselves short and it still might be worth more. The other idea is that the price for same stone on ebay is a ridiculous rip-off AND that the IGL cert is grossly over-estimating the value. Which is probably most likely.

I did a bit more looking around. I found it on Etsy. The seller has only been active for 8 days, based in Thailand. An ebay account with the same name was active since 2008 but no longer, and has a few -ve reviews.

It is also clarity enhanced.

No it's not a deal :nono:

Thanks for the info. I had seen others with clarity enhanced stones and it didn't seem to be an issue.

I just read this though http://www.goodoldgold.com/clarityenhanceddiamonds.html.. So, I have learned something else. Given it's price it sounds like it was heavily included before the enhancement..

clarity enhanced means they drill your stone to take our carbon or irradtiate to make it look better. Just stay a way.
