Man, did we have computers back then?

I will find it and send to your Octonus address.

It would be so interesting to share this with us on the forum!

That story occurred on another forum, in another galaxy, long long ago...

It was hundreds, if not thousands of posts long from start to finish and was the beginning of my friendship with John, although the seed was planted then, it would be years later before it germinated into the friendship that we have today.

Be careful of what you ask Queen Mum, should he find the thread and get permission to post it here, you may not have enough hours in the month to read it.

I'm not accusing you of a fish-story, but it was only a few pages as I recall, Wink. Short compared to what we see on PS today. Of course there were far less people on the internet in 2001. I'm definitely glad you were one of them.

Thank you Stephan. I was asked to share my story here in '05 after I began working in the trade. That tale is covered in the first post of my W-W thread (long version). Warning: If you decide to tackle it you may want to get comfortable...I seem to get a lot of words to the mile.

A memory is a terrible thing to waste...

I remember it taking some weeks to play out, first during your search, then the challange to come see several stones, the flight for you and your lady to New York to see the gems, the decision, the aftermath as people tried to determine which you had chosen since you decided it would be unfair to name a first among equals, in my mind it took months... Please don''t tell me it was all a dream, it would be worse than finding that there was no Santa Claus.

A summary like that is in the W-W post I linked for Stephan, above (unless you''re referring to "Cupid Calc").

Obviously you have not met the fair maiden. He is definitely taking a huge step up!

He will be joined by many of the hoi poloi at the nuptials too. There will be a certain grandpa there from Idaho, Garry and Mrs Garry from the land of Oz, (Garry too took a huge step up when he married, even if he already lived in down under. Hmmm, when you are down under, do you dig a hole to step up? It is all so confusing!), Lieve Peeters, the rough inspector and evaluator for Infinity who is Paul''s business partner will be there, and other important personages, such as some of the greatest musical instrutors on the planet.

Such friends do not gather to watch a great man go down, but rather to celebrate his further assention to a whole new level of greatness.

Oh John...I remember the suspense that those "cupid" threads generated way back when. It was better than any daytime T.V. and I would bet that the viewership topped anything that any top T.V. show could ever dream of generating....
