Hi Gypsy (or other experts),

I just saw the other post (by nine86), there's a mention of feathers. I bought a ring from JA that I posted on here, I love it very much. Its super sparkly, numbers are great. HCA 1.4 , ASET was bloody red (Gypsy approved) Gemologist from JA review was glowing. But it didn't cross my mind to raise a concern of the feathers issue. Here's a link to the stone that I bought. According to your experienced eyes, are there any feathers, that you can see, that I should be concern about? I'm still way within my return period (received the ring 2 days ago) ... pls advice... Thanks so much...

Inclusions are listed with the grade setting inclusion first. You feather is listed last.

And it's an SI1. Not an Si2 like the one in that thread.

So you are probably fine. But since you stone is under a carat the inclusion isn't plotted on the lab report. So I can't tell you more.

You might want to have it appraised if you are worried though.

Thank you Gypsy. How do I search for local appraisers? Then, do I leave my ring with them while being appraised? Sorry if these questions sound stupid

Hi Newbie
The instances of a feather being an issue in a GIA graded SI1 diamond are so very rare as to be no concern.
Especially if your diamond was looked at personally by a well regarded vendor.
If you really feel the appraisal is necessary , go ahead. But the vast likelihood is that your stone is fine.

Thank you Rockdiamond. I inspect the spinning diamond on my mac book (where it allows me to zoom in) ..I don't see any feathers on the girdle or near the girdle (granted this is according to my untrained eyes.) I will just insure it and enjoy it. Thanks so much for your expertise and easing my mind:)

I agree with RD. You CAN get an appraisal. I wouldn't in your case, though for the reasons I stated above. Just insure it and enjoy it.
