Hi ladies--as some of you know my dress came in too small. But luckily for me the dressmaker is letting it out and everything will be fine, I'm within the seam allowance so it shouldn't be too hard.

However, yesterday the dress lady threw out the idea of putting a corset/lace up back onto the back of my dress instead of letting it out and redoing the zipper. I am thinking that I like the clean lines of the zipper with the lace and the sash. I've Googled dresses with a corset back that has a sash so I can see how it would look (if it goes over it will it look silly, etc) but really didn't come up with much. I'm wondering if it will be too much going on in the back with the lace, the beading, the sash, and the corset?

So I was wondering if you could give me your opinions or maybe if you had a corset back dress yourself that had a sash, I would love to see it. I need to make the decision rather quickly, I need to have the dress back here in 3 weeks or so since I need to send it off to SC. She is only going to have 2 weeks to work on it. I would appreciate your insight.

I think I would be open to the idea of the corset if she could cover it with the lace somehow...is that even possible?

Here is option one, half way corset

Here is the option of having it completely up the back.

I love the way your dress looks right now! It''s so chic.

I really like corset backs on dresses, but i don''t particularly care for one that involves a sash -- it just doesn''t flow well (i tried some on when i was looking). In fact, i was considering one of them, and this particular aspect made me not buy the dress. I agree with what you said about the simplicity of the zipper with the sash.

the back of your dress is gorgeous BTW!

Oh, I love it with the zipper and the sash!

I like the first option, but at the same time I don''t think you need a corset at all.I''m sure whatever you choose will be lovely

I love corset backs, but, I think with the sash it would be as you said - too much going on!

I think the back of your dress looks lovely as is. I''d have it let out and stick with the zipper.

I think you should stick with letting it out and keeping the sash the way it is.

Agreed. I don''t think a corset back will look good with your dress''s construction.

The back of your dress is so gorgeous as it is! I admit I'm a bit biased because I'm not a fan of corset backs in the first place, but I adore the way your dress looks now. It's beautiful!

Your dress is lovely the way it is. I would not get a corset.

I love the line of your dress. I would not go with a corset back. I would definitely let the seamstress take it out slightly.

I don''t think a corset would go with the rest of the style of your dress.

I like zipper or buttons with a sash, corset or buttons if no sash.

For your dress, I like the zipper, it looks clean and elegant.

I love that back the way it is, and I don''t think a corset back makes much sense (or would look that good) with such a low-cut back.

Thank you for the feedback, I went ahead and told the dressmaker to just let it out and keep the back with the zipper. I really think it will just look too cluttered/busy in the back if it were to have the corset. I just don't think its going to work. Hopefully when it comes back, it'll fit like a glove. Keep your fingers crossed for me

another vote for keeping the zipper - the back of your dress is fantastic as is! :)

Dressmaker emailed me this morning and told me that the train of the dress got water and dirt on it in transit, how, I don't know

so she is going to take it apart completely anyways. I just hope it all can be fixed

At this point, I can only laugh, seriously, it's just a dress, guess I will walk down the aisle regardless--even if I have to do it naked. I guess that's what happens after your FI gets hit by a car while walking in a parking lot--things are in perspective

(he's ok but might have a cast for our wedding day)

Oh no! I hope your FI is alright!

And I am sure your dress will turn out beautiful! A little dirt or none! And you will be beautiful in it!
