I like Much Ado too - it's fun but can be unclear what is it about.

I also don't think we should limit ourselves to virtual/internet diamonds only.

I'm not very excited about FedEx but it might be a good marketing opportunity... don't know yet.

I also like "Smileys"

"Open" is like open source software when it is available to everybody: every one can participate in its creation.

Garry just emailed me from Singapore (he's on his way home from Moscow).

He doesn't like these titles at all.
Much Ado About Buying Diamonds
Buying Diamonds with Smileys

I have another suggestion: Diamond Value

I'm re-reading one of my favorite books, "goNzo marketing" and there are very iiteresting thoughts about "value". It is interesting because what people are looking in buyiig diamods is not only the price but the whole package: service, information, personal experience, confidence, comfort, etc. This 'package' can be described as a Value and that what it is about IMHO

haha I like my Playing With Rocks. :D

We could add 'Value' into one of the subtitles of the book? Personally to me, "Diamond Value" is not really a book TITLE in my opinion, but having a larger title that catches the eye, then saying something like 'Best Value for Your Money' or something in smaller print would be appropriate.

It feels good to write down on this forum, for starters !

As far as I know, US publishers reserve the right to choose the definitive title (and cover presentation in general) for themselves. So these are bound to be versions.

How did "Pricescope" came to be ? There is definitely naught about diamonds in particular in this name

Just a suggestion: I'm thinkin the vast majority of the diamond purchasing public that'll actually seek out & take the time to read a book on diamonds will be those looking to make a large purchase, i.e., an engagement ring...
Further, I don't think that they'd necessarity search for a book w just "diamonds" in the title but, rather, "engagement rings"...

So maybe something along the lines of "How To Buy A Diamond Engagement Ring" (A Book Written By Consumers for Consumers)?

My husband, the ultimate researcher, would buy a book with a title along these lines. He, nor I, would want to be the ultimate expert on diamonds. We would just want a guide to inform us of the possible pitfalls, as well as how to make the experience as fun and stress-free as possible. An added plus would be the gonzo style--I love Hunter

HI:

How about a title and then a descriptor underneath: e.g.

Diamonds, Unveiling the Magic.
A Buying Guide for the Connoisseur in all of us.

Something like that.

Title option 1-
Behind the Curtain

Title option 2-
Diamonds Behind the Curtain

Sub title option 1-
Everything you wanted to know about diamond buying and engagement rings but where uncertain who to ask.

Sub title option 2-
Unmasking the myths and misconceptions of diamond buying

These are references to the mysterious back room of your jewerly store... and OF COURSE, The Wizard of Oz. ("Ignore the man behind the curtain.")

Diamond buying, historically has been an industry controlled by the few, just like the little Wizard of Oz. A bombardment of uninformative advertisements convices people to buy without much education. This is all changing. We''re not just peeking behind the curtain...we''re tearing it down and insisting on touching everything back there!

If my titles are used I want FULL Credit!... I''m also a graphic designer so if you need a cover, you know where to find me!

HI:

How about something along these lines (header with bi-line):

Mentoring Is The New Marketing or Mutuality is the New Marketing:
Fresh approaches to the age old experience of buying diamonds or
Buying diamonds in the new millennium or
Maximizing your diamond buying experience

cheers--Sharon
