Titanium grades?

Hi-

I''ve been looking for a titanium ring for a present, but I keep getting confused. They all have these different ratings of titanium.. aircraft grade, 6.6... it might as well be UFO grade to me.

I found this info from a titanium supplier but I can''t make any sense of it. Can anyone help?

Hi Rick,

Aircraft grade titanium (6Al/4V) is 300 to 800% stronger than basic grade (C.P.) Extra-hard titanium (6Al/6V/2Sn) is approximately 130% stronger than 6Al/4V titanium. Aircraft grade is said to be better for jewelry, but, that's a matter of opinion.

If it's for a wedding band, there are quite a few reputable wedding band companies that work with the metal such as Benchmark and F. Goldman among others.

Oh, and I checked... they stopped carrying UFO grade titanium years ago (except in Nevada)
