what would be the expected price to pay for a tiny but high quality pair of diamond studs, about .20-.24 cttw (also set in 14k gold)?

I just priced earrings like that from a local family owned jeweler. They were not ideal cut, but excellent (not H&A which I don''t care for anyway) and they were about $250. My husband did eventually buy them for me during the annual clearance sale they have (to clear out old stock for new) and I know they are .2 ctw G VS2 per the paperwork. This jeweler is known for keeping stock of smaller earrings though which is nice because in the past I have had to have my smaller studs custom made.
