Alright, so my soon-to-be fiance, has expressed that she wants around a 1/2 carat stone (3/4 was to big when we looked in store) and she also heavily favors the simple solitaire settings. I think I've decided to go with a Tiffany's style setting and I've been looking at WF and James Allen primarily. I'm not a huge fan of the knife edge, or at least the way it looks on the sides. I want the ring to look round on the sides, and not triangular/pointy. Hopefully this will make is easier to pair with a simple band as well.
Here's what I've been looking at (in order of what I like):
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/diamond-solitaire-rings.html (Delicate Knife Edge Shank)
http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Classic-Tiffany-Style-Knife-Edge_1137.htm#
http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/6-Prong-tiffany-style-Diamond-Solitaire_993.htm#
I really like the James Allen one because the setting doesn't sit at the very bottom of the ring (don't want that tall tower look), and it seems (correct me if I'm wrong), that the edges would appear round, and that delicate knife edge shank, simply means it paves up a little on the sides of the setting.
1) Are my above assumptions correct..any thoughts or input?
2) Will a 1/2 carat stone look bad or awkward in this type of setting?
3) Any known pictures of the James Allen setting?
Thanks!
