Hi There. I have a difficult choice to make. I want to choose between the Tiffany 6-prong solitaire and the Legacy ring (just of note: I am not planning to buy from Tiffany). I see many of you with beautiful Tiffany Solitaires and Legacy rings. I have tried on both and they both look good; however very different. Out of interest sake, which would you choose!?
Thanks

I think if you are looking at the second hand market, you are far more likely to have a selection of the Tiffany solitaire setting available. You might be waiting a long time to find a Legacy that met your specs. I''d like to have both or either, whichever I could find in the color, size, price, etc. that I wanted.

I love halos, so the legacy would be my pick.

Both are beautiful!! Really comes down to individual preference...

hmmmm, tricky..... so you''re saying you like both equally? I take it this is an engagement ring? they are just such different looks. I do love both too, but I guess the relative sizes of each would be of interest to me. As in, given the budget, what size of each would fit into that budget?

If both were of equal face-up size I would go for the Legacy. Just something different and stand-out. But ask me again in a couple of hours and I''d probably go the solitaire! Not much help I know...

I vote for solitaire, because a friend just got married and paired a Tiffany solitaire with a shared prong eternity band and it is

GET BOTH! This is coming from a super lucky girl who owns both of them (with 1+ carat size center stones) and loves to wear both at the same time, all the time!

I too had the same dilemma when I was deciding what I wanted for my engagement ring; I picked the classic solitaire because I loved the setting for a single stone and it was my childhood fantasy to one day say "yes" to a Tiffany diamond (good marketing, I know).

However, the Legacy is much more exclusive in that its cut is patented (it is illegal to copy this cut). The name "Legacy" is engraved on the inside of the ring. The Legacy setting is just as instantly recognizable as the classic 6-prong setting. The Legacy also tends to be much more expensive for the same carat weight. It is also a much heavier ring because it has a lot of platinum, and if you buy anything over 0.80 carat, it can actually catch on things the first few days because it is so heavy. It takes some getting used to. It also seems to garner a lot more attention than the classic setting.

Good luck choosing! Let us know what you decide.

Andrea,

I adore your acquamarine Legacy. I want it! Your Tiff solitaire of course is lovely too. But that Legacy stops my heart! You are a lucky girl!

Legacy! (I''m starting to sound like a broken record)

I''m with BigDiamonds, but then again I have a WF Tiffany knife edge and a shared SP prong eternity band......I would sure not say you could go wrong with EITHER ring, the Legacy is gorgeous, but there is something to be said for the classic and timeless beauty of the solitaire. Just my 2 cents.

I like the solitaire setting better, although the legacy is really pretty too. Check out this thread, it actually has both setting alonside each other: link

The solitaire would have tons of options for WBs. I love the Legacy, but for everyday wear I''d choose the classic solitaire.
