I found these seemingly authentic Tiffany engagement rings on Ebay, with a price-tag that also seems real.

For example:

For $59,200, a 2ct I VVS1 with a noname certificate and a seller appraisal

The blue box and ring box all look real...

Are these people legit? It seems like they''ve been in business for a while, and despite the odd negative feedback (most of which are resolved, but indicate poor product quality) and the fact that they sometimes sell I1''s or J+ colors (which I never see in Tiff shops).

Why would Tiffany have authorised resellers of their pieces - at below their shop prices?

Tiffany’s customers are welcome to resell their purchases, including their boxes, to whomever and for whatever prices they wish. This doesn’t make them an authorized dealer. There are NO authorized Tiffany resellers other than the clearly labeled Tiffany & Co. stores. There is a legitimate market in people who bought things from Tiff’s that they no longer want and who resell them either directly to a new consumer or through a dealer but this merchandise cannot legitimately be called 'new'.

That said, I would be very nervous of any claims of Tiffany provenance on ebay and, if you’re planning on paying even a tiny premium for this, I would insist on paperwork to support it. Fakes abound and genuine Tiffany components like boxes get attached to all manner of pretender products. The vast majority of alleged Tiffany items sold on ebay are fakes and I would not take a dealer supplied ‘appraisal’ as any evidence at all. In fact, if that’s all they have to back up the claim, I would take that as evidence against and I would call that a reason to avoid reliance on any of their other claims as well. Anyone who wants to can call a stone VVS1 if they feel like but that doesn't mean you have to listen. You already know they are lying with the 'new' comment and suspect the claim of Tiffany origin so what remains is to decide what other stretches have been made.

This dealer has been discussed here quite a bit. Search for their name in the the box at the top right of the page and you'll get a few thoughts about them.

I hope this will help but a friend of mine bought a pair of diamond studs from them they where not the clarity grade listed, on top of that they hassled her when she wanted a refund. Also if you type Sheona and Co on the pricescope search engine you will find a lot of info about them.

Ha ha! thanks for the caveats, but I wasn''t planning on buying.

Just interested in how this seller is getting away with repeatedly selling "authentic" Tiffany wares and peddling them as new.

As a seller with 99.8% FB and over 2700 unique customers, that just reflects how stupid Ebay is to have let them continue trading for so long.

Quite honestly I don’t know how allot of the sellers on eBay are still trading on eBay. I personally do not buy anything over $100.00 from eBay.

Signed Pieces is the only seller on ebay that I would buy any Tiffany/Cartier/Bulgari piece from.
