Hi Everyone!

My girlfriend and I went ring shopping last weekend and she fell in love with the "classic solitare" setting from Tiffany''s. The search was on to find a replica.

After searching this forum, I''m interested in getting the "Tiffany Ring Replica" from Excel Diamonds.

---

Buying the Diamond

This is where I''m having trouble (specs I want: Ideal-G-VS2). I went to Excel''s website and I find it hugely disappointing that the don''t give you the ability to view the certificate with the diamond. Instead, you have to request the information via e-mail. I wanted this information to plug-in to the HCA tool on PS.

I could go with another vendor and have Excel set it, but that seems like an even bigger hassle.

The only reason I''m really interested in Excel in the first place is primarily because of the setting.

---

Questions:

1) What have people done in my situation? Can you please share your experience AND the process you went through?

2) I''m not aware of the quality/price of Excel Diamonds compared to others. Are they worth it, or should I get the diamond from someone else? If I should go with someone else, who do you recommend?

3) If I do decide to go with a different vendor other than Excel for the diamond, can you explain the recommended process to go through? I have the same concerns I''ve read about from others (damage to the diamond during the setting...etc).

---

I tried searching as much as possible before posting. I could really use some help and advice please.

Thanks in advance!

Sal

Probably, it is sufficient to tell them you''re looking for an ideal, H&A stone. They''ll know what you mean.

You have 2 choices re. the ring:
a) custom-made handcrafted replica of the Tiffany ring
b) ready-made look-alike of Tiffany ring setting

The simplest case re. getting the ring would be to choose the diamond would be to choose from a diamond trader that can give you either a) or b) so that you get the whole ring from one source.
Otherwise, you get the complexities of buying the diamond from one vendor and getting the ring from another.

Have you seen the Whiteflash "Special Request" Tiffany setting? I think it''s nicer than the excel one and they give you MUCH more information on the stones.

I bought my ring through them, and though I agree it is a little frustrating up front, just email them the stones that you would like more info on, and tell them the type of info you want and they will supply it. I got lots of different kinds of pics (ideal scope, H&A, 10x, etc), and a copy of the cert. Just took a day or 2. Also follow up with a call and talk to them personally. Gets you faster service as well.

sna77 bought his stone from whiteflash and has the superbcert. tiffany replica. He originally had the WF tiffany setting and decided to change it for his wife. He said WF was wonderful to work with and they easily shipped the diamond to excel for the setting. he gave glowing rewiews of both companies. I think the primary vendors here on pricescope have worked together from time to time so although I agree it''s easiest to get the stone and setting from the same place if possible, it''s not too terribly difficult if you choose to get the stone and setting from different places.

I am also in the market for the same thing. Tiffany solitare and will be taking a walk on my lunch break over to excel diamonds to check out the replica and see there stone prices. I have not come to terms with what I am looking for diamond wise yet so I am gonna see what that have.

The only thing I recommend looking in to is that sometimes if you buy the diamond at one place and the setting at another, if the diamond is damaged during the setting process (which is rare) it is not insured as they did not provide the stone. So ask what their policy is with regards to insurance.

Thanks for the helpful advice, this puts my mind a little more at ease. I''ll give Excel a shot with the diamond, but any other suggestions are still good to hear.

Thanks!
Sal

I have to echo the others in their WF suggestion. Their tiffany replica is very pretty and close to the design, their diamonds are excellent, and customer service is great. I''ve personally worked with them and had a wonderful experinece.

Just sent a email to take a look at the Excel Tiffany rep and view some of there stones. Hopefully they will be able to fit me in and I will report back with my findings.

The only thing I will say about Excel is that they sometimes label a diamond an excellent H and A when it is not EXACTly a perfect. But it will be a prerformer.

Hi,

Did you experience this first hand? How were you able to identify this exactly? Was it with the certificate? The appraisal later on?
