Tiffany Ornate Legacy (the one with side stones)

Hi folks--

My bf and I have been shopping for engagement rings and we''ve chosen the Tiffany Ornate Legacy. We had a dickens of a time getting to see more than one or two of them, and finally one of the SAs told us that the word from NY was that they are discontinuing this setting! According to her, it just takes their craftsmen too long to produce. Has anyone else heard this as well? I know there is lots of ambivalence out there about Tiffany''s, but the ornate legacy is simply one of the prettiest rings out there...IMHO of course. We looked at all sorts of other choices, but nothing moved us like the actual Tiffany''s composition. We were able to find our perfect ring last weekend, but somehow I feel a little crushed that they might discontinue it.

You only need one of them right? So does it matter that it''s being discontinued? It will just make yours that much more unique!

I''m sure it''s a very labor intensive setting and in today''s economy... it''s all about simplification and getting the good to the right price point for consumers to buy them... and right now the price points are significantly lower than they were a few years ago. So I can''t say I''m surprised to hear that this is happening, though I am sorry you are saddened by it.

Ditto Gypsy on it being more unique, and that''s a good thing in my book! Not sure on the "collector" part.

Will do Ellen--but I think I''ll wait till I can post pictures as we''re in that anxious waiting to be sized, etc. moment. Oh, and he still has to ask the BIG question. I can just imagine him waiting and waiting so that I''ll be surprised.

I love that Legacy. I tried it on a few weeks ago and can''t stop thinking about it. I didn''t expect to like the graduated side stones but the ring looked amazing on my hand. It was a 2ct. The sales lady then handed me a 5ct Lucida with side stones, which was obviously gorgeous (and cost more than my first house), but I honestly preferred the 2ct Legacy. At the moment I am planning to reset my current diamond in a Legacy inspired setting with graduated sidestones - I can''t wait!!!!
