I have found that perfect stone, a beautiful GIA 1.70 that got a 1.1 on the HCA. I am now working on settings. The only ring she has ever pointed out as liking with the Tiffany Novo setting. I have found someone to do a replica, but have considered asking them to remove the "circle" that sits below the diamond. My concern would be the need to have a notched wedding band. Apparently Tiffany does not notch their band but rather the two rings simply do not sit flush. Having never worn rings, I am in desperate need of advice, especially as the big day is looming VERY soon.

Would it ruin the effect of the novo setting if the open circular area was removed? I assume it would be filled across flush and the head would have to be slightly raised.

THANK YOU!

it really is personal if a tiny gap between the rings would be bothersome. I personally like it when rings don''t sit completely flush, it makes it obvious there are 2 seperate rings. the gap b/t the original novo and band is so tiny I don''t think it''s really even noticable.

you can always ask them to make the doughnut smaller so the bands will sit flush, I believe that is what Delster had done with her LM beauty :)

I actually like a little gap, particularly if you want matching e-ring and w-rings that will just blend into one wide band when flush. I even prefer the gap in my favorite non-matchy look.

I find a small gap fine and a big gap annoying. A moderate solution is to ask the jeweler to minimize the doughnut (which might involve slightly raising the stone) but not being anal about completely removing it and getting the wedding band completely flush just getting it close.

Obviously your girlfriend''s opinion is the one that matters but that is my two cents!
