Wow Alexah..you are a great shopper/researcher! Unfortunatley, all of those prices are not in $10K MAX budget bf has. Yeah, I''m scratching my head on that comment as well.

I just received Excel''s Novo replica in 14ct WG with a 1.2ct, I, VVS1 Good Old Gold Square Hearts & Arrows installed and it''s beautiful. I wanted to post pictures this week (although I believe the pics Excel has online are of my actual ring anyway) but have been working 12+ hour days. My appraiser took a few shots yesterday so, at the very least, I should have some to post by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. BTW, the Square H&A is cut pretty much exactly the same as Tiffany''s Novo rock and they don''t face up as much as a round brilliant. Think of cutting a round then lopping off 4 sides to make it square and you get the idea: same depth but less facing up.
Want to know the best part?? The whole thing cost me just a little over $10K. Forget Tiffany!
Ok Angel -- After they called the police to escort me out ... I left.Date: 1/18/2008 4:37:55 PM

Thanks, same to you Spark! Can''t wait to hear about the trip!
I''m glad you enjoyed my little tale! You will have a blast today! What are you talking about woman??!! GO .. you will not feel the cold. Diamonds have an uncanny way of heating me up. It''s pretty funny, my cheeks get red and I''m sure I get wild-eyed.Date: 1/19/2008 10:15:07 AM

What a dissapointment that the Novo just didn''t do it for you..and for that price, it better do something! Love your descriptions, felt like I was there with you. So glad your friend found the ring of her dreams...I still cannot get over some of those price tags!
Ok, I''m going to ask for this blue book if I make it there today. It''s like 6 degrees in Chicago right now and am debating if I want to walk the ''outside'' mall that Tiffany''s is located in!I never seem to get an excited/nice SA so I just always feel like I should just rush out of there....hopefully today goes better!
You are welcome! I''m actually having a lot of fun with you.Date: 1/19/2008 6:45:11 PM

Spark - Thank you very much for the info! Hmm..seems symmetry and polish are important and I should pay attention!
I know, what a bad diamond shopper I am..letting beautiful bags stand in my way. Bad!!Thank god we aren''t by each other, we would have some serious debt issues!!
I think with the quality I want and the bfs budget..the center stone would most likey be between 1.0 - 1.3..maybe 1.4. Yes, I''m going to suggest what you did..just go and see both next to each other.
That''s great that you found such a great jeweler. That''s half that battle! (I think so at least)
Hmm I just did a PS search, rounds are more expensive the princesses huh?

You are welcome! I''m actually having a lot of fun with you.
Debt issues for sure! My cousin lives in Chicago ... if I''m ever headed out that way, maybe we can get into some trouble...
1 - 1.4 hmmm ... Perfect! Really nice size. I think that is a great ''bang for you buck'' size. Not as expensive as 1.5 and up but still sizeable on your finger.
Finding a great jeweler is a great deal of the battle, in my opinion as well. You hear too much garbage from other jewelers and their prices are like highway robbery as well. Finding a good one is a ''gem'' ... ha!
PS search found rounds more, huh? I never realized that ... Do you think that it could be b/c princesses tend to be deeper, thus face up smaller so you have to get a larger carat size to face up the same as a round? Maybe if you search for princesses that are a little heavier, carat wise, these prices might correlate with rounds in a slighty smaller carat weight? Does that make sense? Not sure if that is right or not, just a thought ..
Excellent! Don''t have any plans now but ....Date: 1/19/2008 7:06:54 PM

It looked to me that they were more $$. I could be wrong. I have no idea - I''m still so all over the place in my brain!Ok, next step. Decide Decide Decide if I want round or princess. Cushion is definatley out..so I go from there. God what drama. What a soap opera I am!

Excellent! Don''t have any plans now but ....
I just ran the Pricescope Cut Quality Search and found the following based on the results that came up:
Round: 1.25 - 1.40, E - G, VS2 - SI1 --- Avg $9,222
Princess: 1.25 - 1.50, E - G, VS2 - SI1 --- Avg $10,940
I know that this isn''t scientific b/c the number of results that came up were not the same etc, however, given that the princess may need to be a little bit bigger to face up the same same as the round ... prices are fairly comparable, given that my unscientific method leaves much to be desired.
Darling -- you have no idea about drama. I had the market cornered when I was shopping for my ring! I have the frantic emails to the jeweler and the nights or restless sleep to prove it.
You''re fine! The best part is that you are enjoying it and having a great day. I really think it''s a great bonding activity or opportunity with the bf ... you are both learning about something new and fun together.
No idea! It is confusing. Maybe if you call Whiteflash or another vendor, they might be able to provide you with more info about princess vs round?? I dealt with Traci at Whiteflash and she is fab! She will answer all your questions and is professional and fun to boot!Date: 1/19/2008 8:23:40 PM

Thanks Spark! Ok, I guess round is less expensive then? Again, don''t listen to me I have no idea. Although, by looking at that price range..we''ll definatley be closer to the 1 carat range as oppossed to the 1.5 range! Thanks again for your help!
I think it''s fun with the bf, him on the other hand..I don''t know if he thinks it''s fun!

OMG, I would have never thought it would be that much! Ok, maybe I will not be going to see it this weekend!
Thanks so much bee!
no prob. I never got the specs on it though so it could have been a D/VVS1 or something like that. You might as well go in and have a look at them though.
