I have been viewing the forums for a while and recently joined to ask some questions and everyone has been very helpful. I have come down to the moment of truth...looking for any last minute feedback. Any folks very familiar with the Lucida, I would appreciate any knowledge about my soon selection...?

Thank you in advance!

I love the lucida. Just make sure that''s what she wants as it''s a very specific "look" (the ring itself not the stone).

And we want pictures!!!

Yes, I had taken here there as a "I could never afford, but..." visit and she like the Lucida and the ring, as she is a size 9, so the wider look is appropriate, IMHO. I am doing this as a total surprise and with no input from her, this may be risky, but this is how my grandfather did it. I cannot believe that she would not be satisfied. If she is not satisfied, oh well

Ditto. My original e-ring is a Lucida, but I''ve switched to the traditional rb.

I love the look and think its very pretty but make sure that she isn''t a "size" girl... 0.77 could look small on size 9 fingers. I agree that the wide band is appropriate though! I think you could find a similar stone (looks radient-ish to me) and put it in a similar setting to get more for your money. However, I can''t fault your taste!

i love the Lucida, but i also have a grave fondness for Tiffany''s. have you thought about the rectangular Lucida? it''s a little trickier in terms of finding a wedding band to sit flush with it (even tiffany''s lucida band does not sit flush with the larger ct. stones, maybe .77 ct is ok?).

i wear a size 5.5 and my fingers are pretty short and of a consistent width. i have a .52 ct round brilliant in a wide band, and i think it looks great because of all that metal. i also have a RB stone that faces up like a .85 ct, and i think it looks small in its narrow band. so, that said, i''d be happy with any Lucida (yes, i''m giving in to the Tiffany brand, but whatever), but if i could buy anything, it would be a square cut 1.50 ct. it looks huge to me, especially because of the setting.

that said, i think lucidas are very pretty when they''re smaller. did you have her try it on? has she expressed interest in a smaller stone in a substantial setting? if so, perhaps the lucida would work. it''s really important to try on lots of different stones and settings (if you''re a hands-on type of couple). the Lucida is pretty darn expensive, maybe you should look into alternatives?

I love the Lucida cut, but I''m not a fan of the setting...too substantial for me. Is the Blue Box important here? If not, try taking a look at the Lucere cut, which is another company''s version of the Lucida. Good Old Gold has a few that are about a carat and probably less expensive than the Tiffany one. You could pick your setting that way.

Thanks for everyone''s feedback. I am fortunate to have a non-materialistic gf who would be upset with anything less than a 1/4, but will be mad with anything remotely close to 1ct. You may all be thinking, than why am I thinking T&Co. I guess I am just trying to carry on a family tradition, and that is the most important thing to me. I guess I am the materialistic person, as in the future I want my grandchildren to know that I went with the blue box and that even though grandma was mad, it made her day. Because I remember my grandma telling me about her special day...

LOL, that''s going to be a cute story! I think you have a winner then. I checked out the smallest Lucere at GOG, which is 0.9 ct, and it actually faces up smaller than your Lucida by a tiny bit because it''s a lot deeper than your stone.

I personally LOVE the Lucida, the entire look, everything. I also think it is 100% great you want to keep to tradition, and I doubt she would be in the least bit sad about your choice

I love T&Co too...Something about the box makes me weak in the knees (that is bad for my husband-to-be though)....

Hi Newbie13,

I totally love the Lucida! In fact, my e-ring is a WF X-factor in a replica Lucida setting! Your stone has a very good spread, but I do wonder abt the crown angle. From what I''ve learnt, the Lucida has a high crown (usually 38 degrees) to give it lotsa fire. I wonder if an angle of 33.3 will make it look any different? Maybe one of the experts here can help with that.

it''s sounds like you have a lovely tradition, and an equally lovely future wife! go with the lucida.

UCLA Belle, that blue box makes my heart skip a beat. i love going into Tiffany''s, they have never failed me in terms of courtesy and friendliness in all the stores i''ve visited (and i definitely don''t ''look'' like i can afford anything except a silver key chain!).

I adore the lucida-Im getting one in two weeks time and I cannot wait to see it on my finger! Your gf will be blown away. Post plenty of pics when you get it!!

To be honest, I am working through a couple of family friends and I have not seen the stone. I am hoping that the angle will still provide lots of fire. I feel confident that the associates I have worked with are very knowledged, as I was looking at a .73 VVS2 G for the same price and they stated to go with the larger as it appeared to be bigger and to be just as bright. So I am hoping it is the case. I needed to move quickly, as the stone was being requested from another store. Thanks for your help everyone! I will post pics in a couple weeks

, if all goes well. My gf has threatened to take any ring back if I were to buy from Tiffany''s...what she doesn''t know is, they will not take it back after being sized.

Don''t worry, she will be over the moon about it. And honestly? I have NEVER seen a Tiffany stone that wasn''t gorgeous, so I am sure that yours will be too. WE WANT PICTURES!!!

I just got the ring back from New York for resizing. The ring has some great sparkle to it! I am having troubles getting a good picture of it, but it appears lots of people have troubles getting it in focus. I will post pictures on July 10th...so stay tuned.

I love the lucide, but tiffany''s is so expensive! You might want to check out signedpieces.com to see if they have any lucidas right now. They occassionally get them in and you can save a ton of money on a genuine tiffany ring.
