In my search for a setting for my diamond, I came upon this website:

http://www.tiffanys.com.my/

I believe these are replicas, but not 100% sure, as the website shows the official tiffanys blue box, bow, bag as the gift packaging, not to mention what looks like authentic tiffany & co markings on their jewelery and Tiffany & Co NY on top of the page.

The tiffanys classic engagement ring on this website sells the setting with a CZ place holder. It also says that the ring is PT950 with a rhodium plating. (Does the real Tiffanys, or any other ring designer, rhodium plate their platinum?) All for $499.00.

Am I correct to believe this website is a scam, and everything is a knockoff?

YES.

Absolutely not authentic. Check out http://www.tiffany.com/ for the real website. The price difference should tell you!

That site is actually Tiffany''s Shop, which sells ''Tiffany Jewellery onsale'' - yeah, Tiffany replica.

If you''re looking for a designer deal, search Tacori on overstock.com. Center stone is still CZ, that''s the way they sell them, but side stones are real and prices are unreal.

The FAQ says it''s "designer-inspired" but not real designer jewelry. I wouldn''t buy there...seems shady

I wouldn''t actually call the site a scam. A scam is where they take your money and send a gum ball ring.

If they in fact send you what is offered at their site, it is not a scam.

"designer inspired jewelry" is what they offer. TIP: You can only get genuine brand new Tiffany from Tiffany.

The rhodium plating is usually done on metals that the desired end result is a bright silver shiny finish. Real platinum wears to a patina that resembles a nickel in your pocket. It is still silver, but dull, not the look of bumper chrome lets say. It will wear off of what ever piece it was plated on...and you can easily take it into any jeweler and they will replat it for you usually while you wait. Most of the high end brands...use plating of rhodium and their pieces are bright and shiny. This is no indication of quality or lack of.

Odds are a genuine Tiffany ring was used to cast a mold for that ring. I believe the original piece does have the stamp of PT950-so that would make sense that the ring also has that. They may just be telling you the ring is stamped pt950 but not actually platinum. If they are using platinum...which is unlikely at $499 it is an junky mix of old pieces or scrap. IT could still be platinum...but a plethora of metal stew. I don''t think they are selling platinum. I think it is sterling with a plat stamp. So there could be an argument there for scam...unless they actually claim this ring is PLATINUM...I think they said it is stamped pt950 and plated with rhodium. Which again if that is the case...a sterling ring for $499 is highway robbery. Not actually a scam...but very misleading.

The rings you can have made here with PS vendors are a special time tested and trued recipe of what works for the duration of a lifetime of a quality piece. Visit Mark Morrells site and learn how passionate he is about his platinum recipe.

Still not convinced? They have a no return policy. Spend $50 bucks and order a sterling piece...I bet the packaging and experience will convince you that nothing of value can be obtained in this manner. Yes, you will get the look...but at what cost?

That site is for someone who want the look...and doesn''t need quality. So they probably make a lot of people happy. But this site is not for someone wanting to save money and beat the system-thinking they are getting the GENUINE AUTHENTIC ARTICLE which they never once claimed...(in fact they distane themselves inthe last paragraph).

Hope my take or view helped. §

Wow...time spent reading the credit card policy is eye opening.

The charge back thing...coupled with the NO REFUND policy is indicative to the amount or should I say sheer volume of dissatisfied customers they have had. They go to the extent to threaten you with IP address location confirmation (if you don''t know, IP location can bring someone right to your door...). Yeah, right I am so sure they send out the posse in my state for a purchase of $49 I refuse to pay.

I think one should be very very Leary of doing business with a company who is already threatening their potential customer. Customer service...forget about it! They have none.

PS. I went back an read and they do claim that ring is Platinum. It just can''t be done at today''s prices. It is sterling I bet my next Starbucks on it!

Wow, what threatening language they have in their credit card policy.

I wouldn''t buy a dead fish from these guys. I would be rather worried that they are the type who would sell off your credit card info to fraudsters!
