Tiffany 1 ct D IF diamond ring in Tokyo

Went to Tiffany''s in Tokyo yesterday and saw at 1.0x ct diamond, D, IF, classic setting for...USD40K+ (don''t remember the exact amount, but definitely over 40K). I know the prices are inflated here, but wow....saw something similar on blue nile with Very Good cut for less than 16K

the prices definitely are hugely inflated once you leave the US. I priced a smaller lucida than the one I got in france and it was over $10k more expensive than what I paid in NY

yea man, I have been doing ALOT of shopping around tenjin fukuoka, and I will tell the cheapest I have seen a diamond my size here was 60% more than what I paid, and that one was significantly lower quality and of "good" cut. It was also the only example. Every other diamond of .55-.69 cts I have seen has been 2 times as expensive as my diamond (many of those I looked at were loose, and I am accounting for the setting differences in others given many of them are in platinum, and some in PT1000) and those of the same quality as mine with an EX or EXEXEX cut run anywhere from 2-3 times the cost of my diamond and EX cuts of the same quality with the Hearts and Arrows designation run 3-5 times the cost of my diamond. It is unbelievable man. Here in Japan Tiffany is actually fairly competitively priced from the stores I have shopped at--which is probably about 25 at this point.
