Thread idea

Minou recently started the "Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone" thread over in Colored Stones and its been a big hit.

I've been wondering if a similar thread for eternity rings would work? I know that many of us troll eBay, Ruby Lane etc looking at eternities. I've often come across ones that I thought were a great deal but were not my size. Would it work to have a thread where we could post good finds that aren't the right size for us?

Yes please. I feel like I only find rings that are sizes 4-5. And other people post that they only find size 9.

I've thought about this myself when I came across cool things on ebay that I didn't need (or couldn't afford), but thought some other PSer might appreciate. But I always decided against it, at least for ebay auctions, because I thought -- maybe another PSer also discovered it and is bidding on it (or waiting to bid closer to auction end), and posting it for everyone to see would drive up the price. So the work of the person who actually went looking for it and spent his/her time on the searches would be wasted, in a way.

That said, I really like the "help me find" threads, especially in Antique and Vintage. That may be kind of a compromise -- if someone is looking for something specific and does the work of asking for help on PS, it's fair game.

Just my thoughts.

YayTacori - I feel like I come across size 5.5 constantly. I am a 7.5. I actually just saw a beautiful size 9 sapphire band the other day. I'll see if I can track it down!

GemFever - that was my concern too. I'd want it to be helpful, but not to scoop another PSers good find. Hmmm. Maybe someone will see this and have a genius solution. If not I'll hold off on the thread except for posting any size 9s I come across for YT!

Perhaps if we only post BIN from eBay, fair game on Rubylane and such? No way to drive up nonexistent bidding, and, well, it makes things sort of first-come, first-served.

I think that's a fair way to do it! I am not a good ebay sleuth so I would appreciate this...hehe. I am a 5.5/6
