I am strongly considering this one

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1226497.asp

I don''t have the ASET or Ideal scope or other reports yet, I''m requesting those now.

Is there anything obvious/non-obvious wrong with it that I might be missing?

Looks good from the numbers to me. Some prefer a smaller table but I am find with it. Will make another decision once the IS is up.

I will just fix the link then I will take a look for you...

Ok, it is a well cut diamond, the table is a tad larger than many we see here. There is a cloud inclusion plotted in the grading report so check with JA that it isn't causing a loss of brilliance. Also check that the very thin part of the girdle isn't a potential durability issue, this isn't always the case but best to check, this will be the reason for the VG cut grade.

Post the Idealscope when you get it then we can go from there.

Ditto for everything Lorelei said.
Now for me, numbers are OK and the picture is gorgeous.
0.95 is a smart purchase.
I-SI1 is a perfect compromise if the SI1 is eye clean.
The table is still OK for me.
I think it''s a very good deal.

Thank you for your replies.

I should have the IS image tomorrow and will post it as soon as I can. In addition to the IS image I requested more information on the girdle and how the cloud affects the diamond.

With the measurements at 6.42*6.45*3.83 I''m hoping that this will appear larger than it actually is without sacrificing too much in symmetry.

Sounds great, I will be looking out for the IS!

Apparently it sounded good to someone else as well.
Its already listed as unavailable, so is the last one that I requested the IS for

Check with JA but it could be on hold for you as you requested the IS, give them a call and ask - I believe they do pop diamonds on hold if IS has been requested sometimes, it might still be ok.

Of course you are correct, it is on hold until they get the IS image.

They actually hold the diamond until 24 hours after they send the IS to give you time to evaluate and make a decision. You should have plenty of time to post the IS and get some opinions before making a final purchase decision.
