I''ve never purchased a stone online before, but I am seriously considering buying a diamond I found on the pricescope search engine. This is a link to the stone:

Any advice or thoughts from the experts on this board would be much appreciated as buying a diamond without actually seeing it first is very intimidating. Thanks in advance for all your help!

I know it''s a little scary, but it shouldn''t be. DCD will send you the stone you have 10 days to inspect it, if you don''t like it you just send it back. It''s really pretty easy. Good luck.

my only problem with it is that it is a little less perfect a square (MEANING THE RATIO IS A LITTLE OFF-SQUARE) than i would want..........but other than that it looks pretty gooD. I purchased my stone from DCD and I love them. They were really PAtient with me and their prices are the best around................

Personally, I would never get a diamond under a VS1.......if your on a budget, I would upgrade the clarity and maybe sacrfice and go down a little with the carat weight.....bigger is not always better......but if you are intent on the bigger diamond, then it seems fine.....remember, its all about personal preference.....Good Shopping......

Everyone''s eye and perfect "sweet-spot" are going to be a little different, so I think you''ll find plenty of PSers who disagree with Drew''s opinions re: nothing below VS1. It''s all personal--that''s what works for him, and that''s fine! There are all sort of clarity/color combos on PS, so only your eye is going to tell you for sure.

My only caution would be to speak to DCD and ask them about how eye-clean the stone is....from what I''ve read, it seems like it''s a bit harder to go lower in clarity on fancies than it it in an RB. But there are some STUNNING SI2 stones on here (JCJD''s pear comes to mind) so it''s not a clarity grade about which you can generalize--for most SI stones, it is just going to depend.

If it doesn''t work for you, I''m sure DCD would find another one that would--you have 10 days to inspect!

I know only a bit about princesses, but my only other comment would be that the girdle looks good--they are prone to chipping, so slightly thick to thick is a good thing.

Good luck!!

Ditto what blueroses said.

Don''t know for sure, nor much about princess shapes, except to share...

Jim at DCD may not have been able to see it either until called in.

Supposedly, stats about these types tend to be not too helpful until seen.

Jim does seem to have a a couple of other Princess diamonds in house, in his signature series, that can be options for you to consider, too, if this one isn''t what you or he expects vis-a-vis performance.

And, this seems to be an exciting time regarding princess shapes, with lots of work being done in terms of researching how to make a quality cut, and standards being developed so you CAN know in advance by the numbers pretty well how it will perform...based on the new AGS0 for them. There''s discussion on these things on under other threads on the board right now you may want to check out.

Best wishes,

Clarity is definately personal preference. I disagree with Drewgasm, I think that a SI diamond that is eye clean is a great way to have more money to spend on a bigger diamond or better colored diamond. Why pay for clarity that you can''t see without a loupe? Jim may tell you that an SI2 needs to be personally inspected to insure that it is truly eye clean. Getting a look at the certificate with the inclusions plotted will give him a better idea about how eye clean this diamond is likely to be. Good luck.
