Thoughts on this pink diamond

I've been looking for a gift for my upcoming birthday (a big one, woohoo). I saw this cute 0.42 ct fancy brownish pink diamond that's in my price range. I am thinking about either putting it in a rose gold bezel ring with white gold shank or a rose gold halo.
Ari from Leibish assured me that even though the in-house grading is I1, this stone is eye clean with no structural integrity issues. There are two feathers apparently at the 8 o'clock (bottom left of the diamond) and 10:00 (top left of the stone) directions outside of the table.
I am no expert on fancy color diamonds and if I do purchase this stone it'll be my first FCD.
My only concern right now is it looks kind of small on the hand. I do wear a size 4.25 but my engagement ring is 1.22 carats. I'm not sure if you can get DSS with FCDs. Also, I know the color is not "intense" or "vivid" so I am worried the pink will be too faint in real life.

Any thoughts?

Kenny can speak to the quality of the stone, but I'd say you'd need to put it in a halo to bring out the color and make the size look more balanced with your e-ring.

Thanks diamondseeker :)) Yea I am leaning toward a halo since my e-ring is a solitaire. I think having a small pear halo will be super fun.
Unfortunately a decent halo is not in the budget right now as my wedding is getting closer around the corner. A rose gold bezel will be more budget friendly but you are right, I think a halo is the better way to go.

Anyone else? Thoughts? Comments? :wavey:

I think it's a very nice one.
42 points is a boulder in the pink diamond universe, and I love what brown does to the price yet the color is still beautiful.
Anyone who knows anything about natural FCD prices will be impressed with a pink that large; plus pear shape faces up large for the weight.

When it arrives give it time and take it in all different lighting and environments.
Most of the FCDs I have change their look and color intensity a great deal as I move them around.

That is a very pretty, very big pink. Nice!

I have no idea how to upload an image from my iPad, but there is a pic of a small pink pear haloed with white melee then again with pink melee and white pave on the shank. It was on the Diamonds by Lauren website but it seems to have sold. I google image searched 'pink pear pink halo ring' and it was the tenth pic.
Anyway, I've loved that ring for a while. So that is my 2c on the setting.

I agree with Kenny about keeping it loose and looking at it in different lights. Maybe take it to a jeweller and put it next to some rose gold to see what it looks like and if you like that combo. Some pinks look grey and drab in rose gold, others look more pink and beautiful.

Happy Birthday and congrats on the wedding!

Hi OC- I'd be happy to give you my opinion for what it's worth on this little pink diamond as I purchased and returned it. =) If you look at my past threads you will find a couple on it -with additional IRL photos.

Let me first start with the positives. It is a bargain!!!!! It is impossible to find a pink diamond of this size for anywhere near what the price is. I thought about keeping it just because of that reason! Ari is correct- it is eye clean. It also does not show a substantial amount of brown which is good. And it really is not that tiny-it would be a nice size on your finger-especially with a single or double halo. And under some lighting conditions it gets quite vivid.

OK- the negatives. It is deep and faces up a little small for its size. It is not the best cut (LOL). And here is the biggie. It loses its pink color in outdoor light and turns kind of a dull color-I wish I'd taken a picture of it outside, but was afraid I'd drop or lose it if I tried. I'm not sure if once it was set in rose gold with a rose gold basket underneath that you'd get a little more color or not. It bugged me enough that I decided to save up a little more (who am I kidding- a LOT more) and purchase a pink diamond that performed better in all lighting conditions. I also decided that brownish pink diamonds blended a bit too much with my skin tone and I would be better with a purplish pink that gives a little more contrast.

Leibish has a great return policy and I'd suggest you see it in person and see what you think- as I said-it's an unbelievable price!! If you decide to keep it and want setting suggestions-I've kept a TON of inspiration photos for a little pear shaped gem ;))

Oh- and here is the DBL photo that Jane referred to. It's gorgeous!!
