By way of background, I am looking for a 1.1-1.24 ct, VS-2, G round-cut diamond. Would like to keep it under $6,500 (plus $1,500 for a setting).

I found this one on JamesAllen for just under $6k:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1239233.asp

It scored a 1.3 on the Holloway cut advisor.

The GIA report is dated May 13, 2009. What is the general rule about "new" diamonds hitting the market? Do you pay a premium for that?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

P.S. If anyone feels inclined to make a counter-suggestion (which are welcome), please note that I am only interested in dealers who have at least a 30-day return period (i.e., no White Flash).

Thanks!

Yes it looks good. Prices depend on what the vendor buys them for.

The diamond looks really nice!

The diamond looks nice. The fact that its new shouldnt change your mind if you think its a must buy. A good diamond is a good diamond.

I would be concerned more if I find a diamond that seems to be good that has not been sold for long

However, the only thing that am concerned with is the girdle thickness. Hopefully this wouldnt cause problems. Am not an expert , so wait for other members to comment on that.

looks good ask for an IS image.

This normally isn''t an issue. A good diamond is a good diamond and sometimes they are traded in. And a "new" stone may not be new-it may just have an updated certificate. It all means nothing as long as it''s a good stone.

I thought WF had a 30-day return policy? Its just only on their ACA stones if I''m correct.

thin is fine in rounds v-thin can be an issue.
Some other cuts its better to stay over med.

Ditto but if a trusted vendor can inspect the diamond with a v thin girdle then sometimes its fine. Thin is no problem.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have asked for an idealscope image and will post it here when it comes.

Justinislooking: the pricescope master list of dealers says WhiteFlash only has a 10-day return policy.
