Hi all!
I recently found Pricescope and can't tell you how much I have learned already!

I ordered a diamond from James Allen and I was hoping for opinions on it. It's set to be shipped tomorrow, but there is always that wonderful 30 day return policy if something seems off. I know that internally flawless isn't necessary, but i thought this was a great stone. Can anyone chime in and let me know if I made a good decision?

This is the link: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.62-carat-j-color-if-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2281052
Here are the specs:
SHAPE: Round
CARAT WEIGHT: 0.62
COLOR: J
CLARITY: IF
CUT: True HeartsTM Excellent
POLISH: Excellent
SYMMETRY: Excellent
FLUORESCENCE: Medium
L/W/D (MM): 5.58*5.55*3.34
L/W RATIO: 1.01
DEPTH %: 60.10
GIRDLE: Thin - Medium
TABLE %: 57.00
CULET: None
CERTIFICATE: GIA
CROWN ∠: 34.50
CROWN %: 15.00
PAVILION ∠: 40.60
PAVILION %: 43.00

Does this seem like a good choice? It came back with an HCA score of 0.7. I'm really looking for a lot of fire and sparkle and I can't tell if this will have it. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I'd find something in the same price range with color and clarity specs that are more similar.

Would either of these three be better? I really love the J/K colors and would like to stay in that range. I wasn't necessarily looking for internally flawless, it just happened to be the clarity grade on that particular stone. I'm really looking for something that with a lot of fire in it. I have the search parameters I found on Pricescope that I've been using as a guide, but anything more in depth leaves me completely lost.

Here is one from James Allen:

And here is one from Whiteflash:

And the K from Whiteflash:

Is there anything particularly wrong with the 0.62ct from James Allen, other than the combination of the low color grade with the high clarity grade? If it helps, it will be in a basic 6 prong, knife edge Tiffany-style solitaire.

Thanks!

Hello,

I guess most of us here think if you get IF you are paying extra for something you can't see. But nothing is wrong with the stone, it will be beautiful. Most of us would really prefer to get a bigger stone and lower clarity with the same budget. Is it for yourself? Does it strictly have to be around 0.6 carat?

You can never go wrong with an ACA - it's a most super ideal cut. Whiteflash also have really nice settings and great service. If you like a K color and wanted that size, this is beautiful.

Thanks for the response! My husband and I have been looking for a solitaire ring for a little while now but we're having some trouble finding something online that will really sparkle. I definitely am not looking for IF but I do like the warmer colors. My personal preference is between 0.50-0.66ct - anything bigger looks out of place on me. I canceled the James Allen order so I can continue to look.

I do like the Whiteflash stone that you posted. I would like to keep the total cost for both the setting and the stone under $3k and that fits right within the budget. Thanks again for the response!

I think Whiteflash ACAs in lower colors are gorgeous. My cousin has a J SI1 (around 1 carat), which I helped her now-husband find. In some lighting it looks perfectly white, and in others, more creamy. I think you'd probably be really happy with a K color ACA if you like lower colors (I know I do!!).

Thank you all for your suggestions and help! I ultimately ended up going with Brian Gavin because I liked the setting better and loved the idea of strong blue fluorescence. I'm so glad I posted here and canceled the order from James Allen. Thank you all so much!

Here is my 0.54ct J VS1 that I am eagerly waiting for now:

I spoke to several customer service reps there who all said the stone checked out and that I was making a great choice, so fingers crossed that it will look just as amazing in person!

Awesome choice, congrats! I think that you will be really happy with your purchase! I have several BGD stones and I love them :)

Yay, I think you'll be very happy. Which setting did you choose?

Congrats. I went with a BG Blue stone as well for a ring for my wife as well as for some diamond studs. You'll love it more when you get the glamour shots and when the package finally arrives! :D
