Hello all!

I found the following princess cut diamond from an online vendor for $8750. Here are the specs from the GIA reports:

Weight: 1.52 carat
Depth: 74
Table: 65
Girdle: Very Thin to Slightly Thick
Culet: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Clarity: SI1
Color: G
Fluorescence: No

How does this look to everyone? They can get me more info (e.g. Sarin) after they bring it in. I was just need to cover the shipping if I choose not to take it. Is it worth it for them to bring it in?

My main concerns are:
- is the depth too high relative to the table?
- is the girdle okay?

Thanks!

There is no direct inverse relationship between depth and spread in a princess-cut. In order to make sure, and to avoid unnecessary shipping, please ask for the diameter of the stone first. There, we can immediately judge the spread.

No need for a Sarin for that. It is clearly on the GIA-report. Weird, by the way, that many vendors apparently give all the info, except the diameters on fancy shapes.

Live long,

I would also question the clarity of an SI1 diamond. Many are very nice but you want to make sure the inclusions are not right on top or easily viewable. The report should show you where they are at adn if you are getting it from an online vendor they should be able to look at it and tell you if it is ''eye clean''.

Paul, here''s the dimensions of the stone:

6.53 x 6.34 x 4.68 mm

As for clarity, I was assured that the stone was perfectly eye clean, with most of the inclusions in the pavillion and not under the table.

Thanks!

The spread is OK. So, you can move on to getting a Sarin.

Live long,

About Sarin on Princess cuts... you may want to look over this recent thread and save some time.

Is there a return policy? Does the seller provide professional ASET or IdealSCope pictures or some other sort of cut grading based on direct ''performance measurement'' and not numbers? If so, it may be more informative. Otherwise, you may want something similar done while the return policy is effective; an appraiser may have the gear the seller does not and the reflector tools (ASET and IS) are meant to be used by buyers themselves.
