This EC might already be sold but if it's back in circulation on Monday I might buy it. Opinions and comments welcome. I have been wanting an EC diamond (1/2) for a RHR. I found one I was interested in at Sol Bros but they said they don't send out photos so I moved on from them. I posted a few I liked a few weeks ago and Karl suggested I write GOG about one he suggested but before I did that I received a very nice response from JA so I have been working with them. Since I am not spending a lot of money I hated to start writing around to multiple dealers but maybe I should.

I want an ideal cut (which I know isn't really clearly defined for fancy cuts), eye clean, white diamond, rectangular shape that performs well. Price range hopefully around $1000.

The table is a bit bigger than the depth Marc, you might know the reverse is preferred. But to me it looks nice in the pic, can you get the crown height from JA and ask for an Idealscope image? See what stormy thinks but if you could get that info that would help m'' dear!

Thanks Lorelei. I did just write JA and ask for that info after reading your post. If it becomes available again we have it on hold so hopefully I can get that info and post it before I have to make my decision. Since it's an online purchase I don't want to waste my time or JA's getting something that won't be a nice diamond that I will have to return.

the table smaller than depth rule of thumb does not apply to this one.
There are exceptions.
Which are table in the low 60s and depth in the low 60s.

That said need an IS image and crown height.

Here are a few at JA that are possibilities as well where the table is smaller but is the depth too big?

This D actually looks pretty nice if the numbers look better than the one I first posted.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/D-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1213262.asp is image and crown height needed, if it passes that then it needs to be looked at to see if there are any negative effects of the g/g sym/polish.
JA has someone that can look at it in person and tell you that.

Thanks Karl. I will send this on to the gentleman that has been working with me. I had to be a demanding customer since I am not spending a lot of money compared to most of thier customers.

10% and proportional to the depth.
deeper the stone the more should be in the crown or it isn''t worth it.

Basically crown height helps appearance and to much weight in the pavilion detracts from it or at least adds nothing to it.

Thanks Karl. It''s strange that the online stats on a diamond don''t include the crown height. It''s not even on the GIA certificates. I should have emailed Sarah like you suggested but I felt bad asking someone else to look for me after JA got back to me on my other requests. However, I certainly don''t want to put out $1000 and find it''s not a diamond I will like.

That''s kewl JA is good people.

Karl, Darin at JA has been very helpful and patient so I am sure he will find me the right diamond. I am not in any rush.

GIA does not provide the crown height in the brief certs. I''ve seen them in the full certs (drawn at the bottom of the page).

Thanks Chrono. I doubt this is what you mean but here is the full cert they sent me.

That's really odd. I was browsing GOG's new fangled old mine cushions and his GIA certs show a lot of detail in the diamond picture at the bottom of the cert. There were angles, heights, and more than you ever want to know.

Well, since you are getting your EC from a PS vendor. you can always request a Sarin to get the crown height.

Thanks Chrono. I have been digging through a lot of the EC posts full of great tips and information (including yours). I know now to ask about the crown height too. Maybe the certs with all the information are new. It would be very helpful to include that information for inquiring minds like those on PS.

Only a PSers will mull about diamond posts late at night while trying to sleep.

I think I am mistaken that GIA posts crown height. I believe that what I was looking at was another report. So I checked GOG again this morning and confirmed that what I looked at was the Helium report which comes in a pdf format. So sorry.

No worries Chrono. I was laying in bed last night thinking I am sure that''s on my ering report (AGS) so I checked this morning before I found your post and it was. We are such PSers, huh? The Helium reports are nice. I wish they''d post them for all the diamonds online. It would save them a lot of questions from PSers.
