Hi all-
Been lurking for a while, but just decided to reigester today!
I am looking at this stone from a local B&M just wondering what everyone thought about it.
This is just the information I wrote down from the report while I was in looking at it:
Color: F
Clarity: SI1 (it is eye clean)
Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Size: 1.01
Table: 57%
Depth: 62.1%
Crown: 35.0
Pavilion: 41.0

It is GIA certed, and the asking price is $7,800 (but I can probably do a little better)
Or are there other options that may be better in this price range?

Thanks!!!

You can do alot better using the link give by hariseldon.

The stone you listed only score 2.4 on the HCA and cost more than a ACA stone from WF of same color and clarity. http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-584873.htm

The stone you''re looking at could be nice, but its crown and pavilion angles are at an iffy point. Because GIA rounds their numbers, it could read slightly better, or worse. And I''m sure you probably can''t get an Idealscope pic which would let us know if it was ok or not. There could be some light leakage.

Also, the price is a bit high, even for a B&M, thought they can charge whatever they like.

If you are wanting to stick locally, I''d suggest trying to find a stone with a bit better angles. Here''s a cheat sheet you can use:

With that said, here''s a "Cliff''s Notes" for staying near Tolkowsky/ideal angles with GIA reports (their numbers are rounded): A crown angle of 34.0, 34.5 or 35.0 is usually safe with a 40.8 pavilion angle. If pavilion angle = 40.6 lean toward a 34.5-35.0 crown. If pavilion angle = 41 lean toward a 34.0-34.5 crown.

GIA "EX" in cut is great at its heart, but it ranges a bit wider than some people prefer, particularly in deep combinations (pavilion > 41 with crown > 35).

HTH!

Thanks for the fast replies everyone, I appreciate it!!
I am not fixed on going to a B&M store, if they want too much $$$ then I am not opposed to using an online vendor.
Maybe I would be better off with something like this here. Or the stone Stone-cold pointed out.

Thanks again

Yes, it is! The one stone cold put up is great too, but personally I think G is plenty white, for almost any size. However, where you find your setting might help in deciding on what stone/where to purchase. Getting both at the same place makes it easier, but is not absolutely necessary.
