Hi everyone,

I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on this diamond. Here is my situation - my FI proposed with a RB 2.0 carat H SI2 diamond with a GIA cert. The inclusions in the diamond are white (3 small feathers) and only visible very close to the eye, but they bothered me (mind clean issue). Our jeweler (B&M) has been very nice about allowing us to trade in the diamond for one I am happy with. Ideally I would have liked a 2 carat H VS2, but that was going to be out of our price range. I looked at a few I and J colored stones, but for me, they showed a little too much color, so I decided to look at stones that were a little smaller. Today I went to see this stone:

Cert - GIA
Carat 1.83
Measurements 7.79*7.87*4.85
Color H
Clarity VS2
Cut Excellent
Finish VG
Symmetry VG
Flouresence - None
Culet None
Table % 56
Depth % 61.9
Crown 35.5
Pavilion 40.8

It is a beautiful stone, H VS2 is definitely my sweet spot. But, I wanted to get opinions from you all because I will be wearing it for a long time! Also, the price is about $19,000 - I know, higher than I could get a similar stone at a PS vendor, but we are past that point. I am supposed to get back to her this afternoon, so any comments would be greatly appreciated! Also, I ran it through HCA and it got 2.5

Thanks in advance!

depth seems a little deep but it looks good otherwise. If you are comfortable with it, go for it.

The specs could be tighter on this diamond, I would prefer a less steep crown angle, but the thing is as you have seen it and love it, then that is all that matters!

61.9% is considered deep? I think it''s a perfectly legit depth percentage, especially considering the small table coupled with the higher crown angle.

This stone should be very attractive - normally most of us prefer slightly shallower crowns, but I sense this one should look pretty much gorgeous - especially because the 35.5° crown angle is combined with a 40.8° pavilion. Buying circumstances (tradeup) suggest this is actually a pretty good deal, and 1.8+ ct are very much sought after and not easy to find in fine makes. It''s definitely green lights in my opinion.

Thank you all for your responses. Can someone please explain to me why most people would prefer a less steep crown angle?

That crown angle combined with that pavilion angle usually means there is some light leakage under the table compare to a lower crown angle with that pavilion angle.
Therefore there is a slight loss of performance.
That is why it scores 2.5 on the hca on the bright side recent research suggests that the amount of leakage is not likely eye visible in most lighting conditions unless the diamond is mounted in a bezel where all light is blocked from the pavilion.
If it speaks to you and you love it then its not an issue.
