Cant believe how difficult it has been to find a cushion that had everything I wanted.

Cushion Brilliant (8 pav mains)
3.00ct H, VS2
8.99 x 8.48 x 5.04
Symm: G
Polish: G
Fl: N
No comments
Depth: 59.4%
Table: 58%
Culet: Med
Med girdle

Stone has that antique look with nice big facets. Crown facets show off great light. Under the table is ok. I see those little dark triangles at certain angles which I thought was a flaw but it looks like many cushions have that - some have full on windmills which I have also seen in deeper stones but arent my cup of tea.

If anyone sees any glaring issues or other things I should look for please let me know. Will be finalizing my decision on Monday

azbuyer, if you saw it and loved it, that''s all that matters. We can''t judge a cushion by the numbers.

Ditto - if it appeals to you in person, that is the main thing. H VS2 are very nice specs also.

Thanks Lorelei. You have been very kind and helpful in my threads and others I have been reading. I''m getting close to pulling the trigger so I just want to be sure everything is perfect. Here is the sarin. I have no idea about these others. Furthermore, the plot here is totally different than the one on the GIA cert which is odd.

You are most welcome, it has been my pleasure!

The Sarin looks fine, also the type of plotting diagrams can vary so that shouldn''t be a problem, this seems to happen with cushions sometimes. On paper all looks ok, although as you know, we can''t judge by numbers as they are rather like a chalk outline - they don''t tell you much! Does this diamond really appeal to you, did you love it when you saw it?

I think its beautiful and my jeweler really loves it which is why he bought it (he isnt just brokering someone else''s). This site has been great but everyone has certain things they like. For example someone pointed out that this has only a 14% crown height which is not considered great. I must have looked at over 20 stones and it has been quite overwhelming. Always something just not quite right. Mark T also showed me a few (including this one) and it has the color I was looking for and a nice compromise between spread and brilliance. Which is what I really wanted. Cushions are impossible to find or maybe I''m just looking during a time when there isnt much inventory in the size I''m looking for.

Thanks again for the help!

Umm...actually that is a good measurement for crown height as far as I am aware, who pointed that out? But like we said before, you really can't go by numbers when picking a cushion, and what we call tell you as consumers and even the experts is very limited, as you can't predict how a cushion is going to look and perform by numbers. Like I said, a 14% CH should be fine, but you really need to look at the diamond as a whole, and use your eyes to judge whether it is right for you or not. The thing is also, that you are looking for a large diamond, and these are scarce to begin with, not only concerning the shape, but the cut also, so it is going to be a bit more difficult as your options are less. One thing you could do, is maybe get the stone sent to an appraiser near you and make the sale final on it checking out, that way you could get an opinion on this diamond from a ' disinterested' expert! That might help you decide and give you some confidence in your purchase, but if you don't love this diamond, then keep looking!
