I'm looking to purchase a cushion cut and have been browsing through images on James Allen to see what sorts of faceting patterns I like and get an idea of what I could get for the money (budget is limited, around $1000). I've limited my search to what JA calls Ideal and Excellent cut diamonds, and I prefer warmer colored diamonds.

I came across this one and something about it immediately caught my eye:

Perhaps it's just the image, but it seems like this diamond has a broader, more antique-style faceting pattern? Compare it, for example, to this stone that I'm also considering:

Any thoughts? Suggestions of other similar diamonds are welcome too.

Both of those diamonds look like modern cushions to me. It sounds like you don't want an antique-style cushion, so I think you're on the right track with these two stones.

I love warm cushions, too. Mine is an O/P, and I adore it.

Those are both modern cushions, I'm not in love with either to be honest. I would give ID a call they are good at finding something gorgeous on a tight budget, tell them you are pricescoper. They also have that setting you have in your avatar as well.

I think the second one looks pretty nice actually. with cushions the faceting pattern is more of a matter of personal preference.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help!

Haven - honestly, I've seen both antique and modern style stones that I've liked, it really just varies. I was kind of hoping that the first stone I linked would look somewhat more like an antique stone since the facets seemed broader (to my untrained eye at least) in the picture. I wish there were more of a selection locally so that I could see lots of stones in person and handpick one out. Your ring with the O-P is gorgeous, btw, one of my favorite cushion solitaires!

Tyty - If an AVC were in my budget I'd definitely consider one. Alas, maybe as an anniversary upgrade several years down the road? I'll check out old world diamonds too.

Farmer gal - anything in particular that you can point out that you don't like? Just so that I know what you mean and maybe more what to look for? And thanks for the info on ID too.

slg47 - Thanks! I was attracted to how symmetical it was. It's hard to know for sure what I like best, though, and I wish it were a bit larger.

The first one by the picture looks like there will be a lot of light leakage to me. The second one kind of appears dark on the table but maybe that's just me.
