I am searching out some stones to make a 3 stone ring and I saw this potential side stone and wondered what anyone thought of it as a side stone for an 8.45mm F center:

Gia cert

.65ct
G color
SI1
5.57X5.60
GIA EX cut
Polish VG
Sym EX
table 54
Depth 62
Crown angle 34.5
pavillion angle 40.8
Med Blue Flo
thn-med girdle faceted
Lower facets 80%

I have it on hold right now while they check the eye clean of the SI. It looked good on HCA. Is it too deep for the table size? I wondered about that. Does anyone think a 54 table would look weird next to a 57 table center stone? Price looks good on this stone which is in Europe right now.

The numbers work welll together, should be a very pretty diamond. The table size is personal preference, 54 is still in the ideal range...some like the more firey look of a small table, and some prefer a larger table of 57. This diamond will face up a smidge smaller since it''s a little deep with a small table, but this difference is small maybe 2% smaller than a diamond with slightly smaller depth/larger table.

This diamond could be a stunner! It is a little deeper than I prefer, but by no means horribly so, this diamond is well worth investigating further!

Hi beacon,

You might think about having the vendor you are working with try to find a match pair for you. I''ve never tried to do it from what I''ve read here finding the match can be difficult. I think Al said WF pulled a couple of pairs for her and the first set just do it for her with her stone. then then found another pair that worked fabulously. anyway, just something to think about.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. This stone has sort of *different* measurement from what I am used to. I appreciate your evaluation.

Mrssalvo - good idea about getting help with a match. Could make life a lot easier than squinting through multitudes of on-line certs.

Thanks!

Hey Beacon,
what sort of setting are you interested in?

Most likely something rather simple. I have to take a trip to a good store and look at what is available in pre made settings. If nothing shoes up, then I''ll seek out custom. Would love to send it all to Leon M and tell him - go for it! But I am concerned about the mailing thing and time it takes and so on......plus, one would think it would be easy to set these stones, but what to I know?

Knowing myself, I think I may be safest to have a very simple setting just cause I may change things around again in the future.

Right now I really do not like the setting the ring is in, a very ordinary 6 prong that does not flatter the stone much. With the three stone I''ll be doing 4 prongs most likely.

So for now I am trying to assemble the side stones that will look nice and I am not in a huge rush. Trying to enjoy the "process".

that''s what I''d do in a heartbeat. You could always go though GOG who works with Leon if you''re worried about it. Send them your stone and let Jon and Leon handle the rest
