hello everyone.

i've been trying to find a 4-5 carat oval or a 5 carat emerald for several months. i'm trying to take my time to get the best stone possible but i'm starting to get antsy. i am not able to see any stones in person which is making thing harder than i expected. if i don't find anything in the next month or so i think i will ask one of the NYC vendors to call in 5-10 stones and go out to nyc. i came across this stone on enchanted diamonds today.

Any thoughts on it??

On the videos, I find the ED oval better looking. Can you please post the ASET on that one? I am not going to register in order to see it on the site. They need to remove that requirement if they really want people here to recommend their stones. Please tell them that.

Thanks so much diamondseeker! I like the looks if it in the video as well...however doesn't it seem really "warm" for a F?? Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, could it just be the video?

Even when I logged in I couldn't save the ASET as an image. So here is a screen shot (sorry it's the best I could do! Is all of that white leakage???

What do you think about the SB fluorescence?? I don't know what I think...I don't know if I truly have an opinion but I'm slightly worried about paying that much for a stone with it.

Any thoughts or help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I also find the ED oval just a tad nicer looking...cant put my finger on it though. So hard to compare the asets with different background
colors. Can you order the stone and view it in different settings to see if it gives you the fire/brilliance you are expecting?

ED- Enchanted Diamonds - Remove the requirement to log in to see all images...really, if you want more recommendations from
your site you seriously need to change this!!! diamondseeker couldnt be more correct!

What about the fact that the ED stone has Strong Blue fluro? If the ED stone looks just slightly better, would that make anyone go with the JA stone?? Do you think either of these look good enough to pull the trigger on??

I will email ED and let them know about the logging in piece (hopefully they see this too)!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback!

You can take a look at this article:
http://www.jckonline.com/1998/09/01/will-gia-s-study-finally-settle-fluorescence-question-don-t-count-on-it

Around here most people like fluorescence (it is pretty cool). Brian Gavin even sells a line of blue fluorescent stones
"Brian Gavin Blue".

You can ask ED if the fluorescent has any impact on the stone. In very few/rare cases it does but those appear to be few and far
inbetween.

It would not change my mind (and I doubt it would change most PSers minds but there are always those few holdouts).

I think both these stones are really lovely. The video of the ED stone looks nicer to me.

Thank you!! Great information!

Just found out from a different vendor that the SB fluro in the 4.21 ED stone, negatively affects the stone (looks milky). :(
Back to the drawing board!!

That is interesting that a different vendor told you that. Did they physically examine the stone?

Unfortunately the ASET was awful on that stone anyway. As you can see, it is extremely important to have an ASET on an oval, although they just will not come close to the light return of some other cuts.

Yes. It was listed with a few vendors so I sent emails to 2 of them, not knowing who/if they'd get back to me. The other vendor who said they could get the stone and sell it to me went and physically examined the stone and got back to me that they would not recommend it.
